Well, I don't know where everybody is and I hope that means that you
are all feeling well and are out enjoying the long weekend. I have
been busy doing research for family, getting ready to file a
complaint with the Iowa Board of Medical Examiners, and doing some
doing some work as I am now a Representative for the Arizona Pain
Initiative. We are working on setting up a database dealing with all
sorts of chronic pain from cancer to RSD to Fibro and anything else
that we can think of. Arizona is becoming quite active in seeing that
chronic pain patients receive the proper diagnosis and treatment for
their pain. As we all know it is a problem that has been ignored or
mistreated for far too long and the latest lawsuits and such have put
the drugs that are so necessary and the physicians who prescribe them
is a very bad light. The Arizona Pain Initiative is working to make a
difference and is part of a nationwide and much larger effort to get
our voices heard. We are just getting started here in Az and I want
to be a part of that so have now become a representative and am
working on the database materials. I'm excited about this and may be
asking you girls for input. Well, have a great holiday and don't
overdo it. Be safe!
Love to All,
Betty

Hi Betty,

I agree its best to try to be as normal as possible. I do overdo at times and pay for it big time. Some things are worth the pain later, like doing something with the family. You are in my prayers.

When you feel all alone...this is powerful

2008-09-29 12:27:18

When You Feel all Alone..
"He said he was going to commit suicide.." It was nearly two o'clock in the
morning, when the operator call me and give me that message. I was serving
as
a pastor in the mountain community, overlooking a beautiful lake, in a
large
valley in the Seirras. The sheriff on duty was on a call, 75 miles away,
and
the operator felt that the situation was critical. The man on the line had
a
loaded gun and he was drunk. As I talked to him, I knew he was serious
about
taking his own life. I convinced him to let me come to his house.
I will never forget walking into his house. He was still on the phone and
he
yelled for me to come in. As I walked in, I saw four or five empty bottles
laying on the floor around the front room. I walked back toward the voice
and
saw other empties sitting on the kitchen counter and the table. As I
entered
a den, he was sitting by the phone with a 38 caliber revolver in his hand.
I
walked over to him and asked for the pistol. He looked at me and I could
see
the pain in his eyes. I don't even know why I said it but I remember
saying,
"It's okay, I am here to help you."
He handed me the revolver and the tears filled his eyes. He whispered back,
"That's what I need. I need someone to help me."
He and his wife had retired to the mountains. It seemed like just a few
months had passed and she became ill and had passed away. He didn't really
know anyone at the lake and his loneliness had driven him to the bottle and
despair. He kept saying, "I am all alone. I haven't got anybody who cares a
dang about me."
We talked for a long time and I told him that they were people who did
care.
There were caring communities of
people all over the area. Those people who care where called Christians. We
talked well into the day. As I shared about Christ, I could see an interest
but he wouldn't ask the Lord for help. He kept coming back to his
loneliness
and his despair. He would ask me, "Who could love me? Look at me. I am a
drunk."
I convinced him to come to our midweek service that night. I left and got
cleaned up and drove back to pick him up. When he came out to the car, I
could see that he hadn't cleaned up. He hadn't shaved in several days, he
had
comb his hair with a wet washcloth and he smelled, no reeked, of alcohol.
We were the first to arrive and he sat down in the back row. As I prepared
for the services up on the platform, the
sanctuary doors opened and one of the older ladies walked in. She was a
beautiful Christian woman and very dignified. She saw the man in the back
row
and walked over to him. He stood to shake her hand. I couldn't help but
watch
the scene unfold in front of me. I remember her pausing and looking at the
man. I could see her taking in his own whole appearence. The unshaven face,
the alcohol stained clothes, the smell. I wondered how she would react.
As the man reached out his hand, she reached out to him and pulled him into
her arms and just held him in a long and poignent hug. At first, he seemed
to
freeze in her arms, and then I saw his body begin to heave in quiet sobs in
this Christian woman's arms. She lifted one hand and began to pat him on
the
back. While she was still holding him, another member of our church walk in
and saw the scene. She, too, went over and began to reach out to the man
and
pray.
I don't remember much about the service. I remember that the man sat with
the
women and I remember, when I asked for those that needed prayer, that he
came
forward and gave his heart to the Lord. I knew him for several more years
until we took another move and I know that he served the Lord until his
death
several years ago.
What made the difference in this man's life? Was it some words that fateful
night? No. Was it the message I shared that Wednesday evening? No. It was a
Christian who simply reached out and touched someone with the love and the
compassion of Christ.
You see there are a lot of lonely, hurting people in this world. They are
looking for someone who cares. They are
looking for someone who will reach out to them and touch their lives. That
is
the work of the Church. To go out and
share the love of Christ with hurting people. To be his hands and his arms
to
a world that needs someone to hold
them and tell them that it is okay and that there are people who really
care.
Maybe you are hurting right now. Maybe you feel like no one cares. There
are
people who really care. These people were once just like you but now they
have been touched by the love of Christ. They know the heartache and the
pain
that this world can inflict and they want to help. They are just a
telephone
call away. Why not call right now.

I know that it's going to take a long time for me to get used to this
and deal with my feelings but the best thing i can do for myself right
now is try to get things back to normal. Maybe then I can get this darn
pain under better control than it is right now if I put my mind to
other things. I can always pop more pills since I'm not taking as much

I just Justina's post on the digest of the group.
I am very sorry that Justina had such a hard time with the removal.
I'm also a little freaked out reading it, because I have a cervical
stimulator which is not working correctly, and we are discussing removal of
it. I had a difficult implant because of scarring. I'm afraid that
something like this could also happen to me.
Has anyone else had problems like this?
Also, I really want to dialogue with folks with cervical stimulators.
Anyone who has one - please be in touch with me either through the list or

FW: WHY?

2008-09-27 03:58:55

Try #2! Good ?'s!!

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?
Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?
Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?
If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?
Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?
How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?
When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"
Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

Pass this on to anyone who likes sitting out in the evening or when
they're having a cook out. So you don't like those pesky mosquitoes,
especially now that they have the potential to carry the West Nile
Virus? Here's a tip that was given at a recent gardening forum. Put some
water in a white dinner plate and add a couple drops of Lemon Fresh Joy
dish detergent. Set the dish on your porch, patio, or other outdoor
area. Not sure what attracts them, the lemon smell, the white plate
color, or what, but mosquitoes flock to it, and drop dead shortly after
drinking the Lemon Fresh Joy/water mixture, and usually within about 10
feet of the plate. Check this out---it works just super! May seem
trivial, but it may help control mosquitoes around your home, especially
in the South and elsewhere where the West Nile virus is reaching
epidemic proportions in mosquitoes, birds, and h umans.
Pass it on

I Agree!!

I thought this was amusing!

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree.
Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of
falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the
ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something
is wrong with them, when in reality they're amazing. They just have to wait
for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all
the way to the top of the tree.
Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to
women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something
acceptable to have dinner with.
Share this with all the good apples you know .

bible study stuff

2008-09-24 08:50:04

hi 'gain
I did a bible study for the grooup for a while (I am
the one who started it, but I turned over to someone
while I was in remission (I guess you can call it
remession, but it's not cancer)
I didn't know if anyone was doing bible studies or
not, since it sounds like not, perhaps I will start
one. I post a passage to read, questions and
sometimes whatever insight or statements I feel the
Lord has brought to my attention
I also HIGHLY recommend signing up for the daily
devotional at REST MNISTRIES.......also for chronic
illness and pain sufferers.
The url is
www.restministries.org ( think)
maybe I'll begin a bible study tomorrow,,,,,,,,,,
should I repeat the one on Suffering? seems we have
quite a few new usernames.......
it was a GREAT study, worth repeating
maybe I will start it tomorrow
I also posted word searches, trivia questions and
stuuf....maybe we will do those again too.........
love in HIM

I am glad your back safe and sound, and take all the time you need to heal-remember we all heal at our own pace, and know you are still in my prayers.

I go for my pre-op and a block on the 6th of July, the surgery is set for the 11th,but he will move it up if he has someone cancel. He is setting it up as ACL repair, tendon repair and removing/replacing meniscus cartlidge. So far the knee he said is looking fine and the need for knee replacement may have been overkill by Dr Fedder, but admitted the MRI's while good for diagnostic tools, can still be decieving and he wont know till he gets in there, and is reserving bed for me at Rowan Regional just in case he needs to do it also. The issue for now has been pain management, and he has put me on total bedrest,no walking unless necessary....hmmm...guess he forgot I have kidlets. My friend has been taking the girls to her house several days at a time, and Billy has been great, but ....heck..I am still Mom...

anyhow,my dear friend, praying real hard for you and sending lots of angel hugs your way!

hi everyone! I'm back! I have enjoyed a couple of months of being
almost entirely symptom free (physically)......I enjoyed it very much,
quite the miracle after an acute flare that was heading into 3 years.
But alas, I am having symptoms again. yelch......
I hope this finds you all relatively comfortable and pain free.....
We have decided to send the kids to a Christian school rather than to
homeschool them again this year........it is just TOO much for me, and
my hubby finally agreed to have someone come in and do housework a
couple times a week, but I haven't dome much to find anyone yet. He
is not working at the moment, and although I don't expect him to do it
all..........he could certainly do some of it. I'm pretty much back to
not doing anything.
After my healing, I lost my temper and chased my son through the
house, ran into an oak bedpost and destroyed my toe. Broke it into
two, and tore a ligament........didn't heal right, had to have it
rebroken, then surgery to have a pin inserted and it still isn't
right.....poor tootsie. What I get for losing my temper......
I can't remember who I left in charge??? yooo hooo.....moderator!
where are you???? doesn't look like the list has been very
busy......... let's get it perked up a bit. Maybe I will begin the
bible studies again....... anyone interested?
well, 'nuff for now.........looking forward to chatting with everyone!

Keeping everything straight helps the stim to set in place. I had to take

Fw. Duck Hunters in Wisconsin

2008-09-21 05:23:21

Subject: Fw: Duck Hunters in Wisconsin

This STORY was HEARD ON A WISCONSIN RADIO STATION REPORTING ON THis INCIDENT.

A guy buys a new Lincoln Navigator for $42,500.00 (with monthly payments of $560.00).

He and a friend go duck hunting in mid-winter; and of course all of the lakes are frozen.
These two guys go on a lake with their GUNS, a DOG, and of course the New NAVIGATOR.

They decide they want to make a natural looking water area for the ducks, something for the decoys to float on. Now making a hole in the ice large enough to invite a passing duck, is going to take a little more power than the average drill auger can produce.

So, out of the back of the new Navigator comes a stick of dynamite with a short 40 second-fuse. Now our two Rocket Scientists, afraid they might slip on the ice while trying to run away after lighting the fuse (and becoming toast, along With the Navigator), decide on the following course of action: they light the 40 second fuse; then, with a mighty thrust, they throw the stick of dynamite as far away as possible.

Remember a couple of paragraphs back when I mentioned the NAVIGATOR, the GUNS, and the DOG...???

Let's talk about the dog: A highly trained Black Lab used for
RETRIEVING. Especially things thrown by the owner.

You guessed it: the dog takes off across the ice at a high rate of
speed and grabs the stick of dynamite, with the burning 40 second fuse,
just as it hits the ice.

The two men swallow, blink, start waving their arms and, with veins in their necks swelling to resemble stalks of rhubarb, scream and holler at the dog to stop.

The dog, now apparently cheered on by his master, keeps coming.

One hunter panics, grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with #8 bird shot, hardly big enough to stop a Black Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused then continues on.

Another shot, and this time the dog, still standing, becomes really confused and of course terrified, thinks these two geniuses have gone insane. The dog takes off to find cover, under the brand new Navigator.

The men continue to scream as they run. The red hot exhaust pipe on the truck touches the dogs rear end, he yelps, drops the dynamite under the truck and takes off after his master.

Then
""""""""""BOOOOOOOOOOOOM""""""""""!! !!!
The truck is blown to bits and sinks to the bottom of the lake, leaving the two idiots standing there with...... "I can't believe this just happened" looks on their faces.

The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is NOT COVERED by the policy. He still had yet to make the first of those $560.00 a month payments ... The dog is okay ... Newspaper item from Wisconsin...
AND THEY MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH?

The Shoes.....this is so good

2008-09-20 19:40:59

The Shoes
My alarm went off -- it was Sunday again; I was tired -- it was my one day
to
sleep in. But the guilt I'd have felt the rest of the day would have been
too
much, so I'd go; I'd pray.
I showered and shaved, adjusted suit and tie, got there and swung into a pew
just in time. Bowing my head in humble prayer before I closed my eyes, I saw
that the shoe of the man next to me was touching my own and I sighed. With
plenty of room on either side, I thought, "why do our soles have to touch?"
It bothered me so; he was glued to my shoe, but it didn't seem to bother him
much. Then the prayer began: "Heavenly Father," someone said -- But I
thought, "Does this man with the shoes have no pride?" They were dusty,
worn,
scratched end to end. What's worse, there were holes on the side!
"Thank You for blessings," the prayer went on. The shoe man said a quiet
"amen." I tried to focus on the prayer, but my thoughts were on his shoes
again. Aren't we supposed to look our best when walking through that door?
"Well, this certainly isn't it," I thought, glancing toward the floor.
Then the prayer ended and songs of praise began. The shoe man was loud,
sounding proud as he sang. He lifted the rafters; his hands raised high; The
Lord surely heard his voice from the sky.
Then the offering was passed; what I threw in was steep. The shoe man
reached
into his pockets, so deep, and I tried to see what he pulled out to put in,
then I heard a soft "clink," as when silver hits tin.
The sermon bored me to tears--And no lie--It was the same for the shoe man,
for tears fell from his eyes.
At the end of the service, as is custom here, we must greet the visitors and
show them good cheer. But I was moved inside to want to meet this man, so
after the closing, I shook his hand. He was old, his skin dark, his hair a
mess. I thanked him for coming, for being our guest. He said, "My name's
Charlie, glad to meet you, my friend," And there were tears in his eyes--but
he had a wide grin. "Let me explain," he said, wiping his eyes. "I've been
coming for months, and you're the first to say, "Hi." "I know I don't look
like all the rest, but I always try to look my best." "I polish my shoes
before my long walk, but by the time I get here they're as dirty as chalk."
My heart fell to my knees, but I held back my tears, he continued, "And I
must apologize for sitting so near." "But I know when I get here, I must
look
a sight. And I thought if I touched you, our souls might unite."
I was silent for a moment knowing anything I said would pale in comparison,
so I spoke from my heart not my head. "Oh, you've touched me," I said. "And
taught me, in part, that the best of a man is what's in his heart." The
rest,
I thought, this man will never know.
How thankful I am that he touched my soul!

Hi Dori

My daughter works and not supposed to make personal calls. Her hubby is home Tues thru Friday bur he will not call. He is the reason Grandson is here with me. Its like he is making her choose between them and that's not fair. Grandson is not going back until counseling and us 4 adults have a talk. Thank you

Re: Good Saturday Evening to all

2008-09-19 03:22:23

Sandy well at least you had some good news in there. Glad to know that the old surgery is still holding things together well and that they will leave that alone.

I will be praying for your upcoming surgery and hope that I get to talk to you on the phone before then.

Am so sorry that you are in so much pain and that the meds made you sick. Can you switch back to what you were taking to help take the edge off or is that why your meds were changed in the first place because they weren't helping?

Pat didn't answer about grandson in her reply so she either forgot or missed it but he was kicked out of the house by his stepdad at the same time that his little sister went into the hospital. They do not get along well at all and counseling is trying to be arranged but meanwhile he is staying at Pat's.

Angel Hugs,

Re: Granddaughter

Pat that is great news about your Granddaughter.

Is your daughter's hubby the reason that she hasn't had time to find out about the insurance and counseling? what is she thinking? It almost sounds as if she doesn't care about your grandson and is happy to let you have him. If so, then he is definitely where he belongs with Grandma.

Hang in there and know that I am still praying.

Lend Me Your Ears I Need Someone to Listendue to the internall

2008-09-18 08:55:02

Kathy,
My Medtronic pump has a 40 ml reservoir which lasts me about 125 days. My last
refill was April 28th and I am not scheduled for another appt. until Aug. 11th.
I have never heard of a pump that never need the battery changed. As I said,
mine has to be replaced every 7-10 years but there is no charging between
replacements.
I had my trial a number of years ago and had an external pump that I had to wear
in a fanny pack for about 3 weeks. A nurse came to my home daily to make sure
things were working alright. After surgery that little puck shaped pump felt at
times like a basketball, due to the internal swelling. Actual recovery was just
a couple of days and the swelling was gone within about 6 weeks. You do not have
to worry about anything moving and therefore you are able to bend, lift, etc.
immediately.
Good luck with your trial and implant. Please let me know how you do with it and
feel free to ask any and all questions you may have.

My heart and prayers are with you and your family. Having lost both parents, my father just recently and unexpectedly, I have some idea of what you are feeling.

I am so glad that you had the time together to say the things that so many people have to leave unsaid. My mother's last words were "I love you, too." I thought she couldn't hear me, she was in a coma...I thought....an I told her that I loved her. I will carry that with me forever.

I can't tell you that the hole in your heart will ever go away, but in time, it will partially fill with precious memories.

May God hold all of you in the palm of his hand.

Hi,
Yes you can have the Pain Pump and the SCS at the same time that
is what my doctor wants me to do.I am going to talk to him today June
12,2008 about it. I have been on so many medications it is sickening.
Right now I am on Kadian and Vicodin for break thru pain, along with
Topamax, Cymbalta and Baclofen and the Medtronic Stimulutor and I
still am in a great amount of pain. My doctor has been bugging me for
about 6 months now and I have been studying it on the intert now and
I think I am going to go through the trail it will mean a hospital
stay for the trail but is if means a clearer head and less meds going
though my liver and less pain I will try anything. I am only 43 years
old and I plan on living alot longer. They already have my trail
setup if i say yes it will be on June 23, 2008 But I will update you
guys more after my appointment this afternoon.

Re: Health Update from LORI JUSKO

2008-09-12 20:12:46

Hello to all my internet/online friends : )

To anyone who may wonder where I've been the last 48 hours, I was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, after my drs. visit on Wednesday. They did an ekg and chest x ray and due to my history of blood clots and the fact that I was having similar pain upon breathing as in the past, said they needed to do a CT Scan to see if I indeed had the blood clots again. Well, to make a long story VERY short........Praise God NO blood clots were found, however; they did find several nodules that they are concerned with in my right lung. They wanted me to stay in the hospital until they could schedule me for a biopsy, of course stubborn silly me said I wanted to go home and they could schedule me to have it done as an outpatient. Several teams of drs. came into my room to evaluate me and ask medical history questions, I believe I have them very confused and amazed, this might go in the medical books. I went thru the same thing in 1983/84 when they were trying to figure out
what was wrong with me and ended up with a diagnosis of vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels).

I am writing for two reasons, mainly to ask for PRAYER for wisdom and direction for the drs. and medical staff that will have to deal with me......LOL! and secondly, if any of you have had a lung biopsy of any sort could you let me know how the procedure went and what all was involved. It must be the grace of God because 10 years ago this would have scared the daylights out of me, but now I'm very much at peace and actually excited to get it done and find out what these nodules are. They said there were more nodules that had developed since my last CT Scan of this lung some years ago.

Thank you for putting up with me and my health related issues, I can say one thing thru all of this........God is sure keeping me on my toes, teaching me patience and loving me with all the grace I need. I can say my life certainly isnt boring, always something waiting around the corner : )

Love you all SO much

they want to use is called Bupivacaine. I like the idea of no battery
because I have an SCS that I have to recharge every week what a pain

how offten do you have to go in and have your medication refill and
what is that like ? I can not drive so my husband will have totake

question what was the trail and the real implant surgery like ?
Thank You Kathy

Re: How long till a new battery after seeing the warning?

2008-09-11 09:22:36

I am not really sure with an ANS system but with my Medtronic system
that I use to have I had to have the rep read the battery for me....I
had to get a rechargeable system placed because of my high useage level
caused me to deplete a 5 yr battery in under one yr....she would come
by my workplace every 4 - 6 weeks and keep an eye on it til it reached
20% and they informed my dr to schedule the replacement....my dr also
had a programmer that was capable to doing it as well but he would
charge me a co-pay to have it done at the office so I was lucky to be
friends with the rep when it came to that!!!!

Fw. The Pink Dress

2008-09-11 09:19:45

This is priceless!! Enjoy!!

Don't let your day go on without reading this first, no matter how busy you may be!!!
The Pink Dress
There was this little girl sitting by herself in the park.
Everyone passed by her and never stopped to see why she looked so sad.
Dressed in a worn pink dress, barefoot and dirty, the girl just sat and watched the people go by.
She never tried to speak.
She never said a word.
Many people passed by her, but no one would stop.
The next day I decided to go back to the park in curiosity to see if the little girl would still be there.
Yes, she was there, right in the very spot where she was
yesterday, and still with the same sad look in her eyes.
Today I was to make my own move and walk over to the little girl.
For as we all know, a park full of strange people is not a place for young children to play alone.
As I got closer I could see the back of the little girl's dress.
It was grotesquely shaped.
I figured that was the reason people just passed by and made no effort to speak to her.
Deformities are a low blow to our society and, heaven forbid if you make a step toward assisting someone who is different.
As I got closer, the little girl lowered her eyes slightly to
avoid my intent stare.
As I approached her, I could see the shape of her back more clearly.
She was grotesquely shaped in a humped over form.
I smiled to let her know it was OK; I was there to help, to talk.
I sat down beside her and opened with a simple, "Hello."
The little girl acted shocked, and stammered a "hi"; after a long stare into my eyes.
I smiled and she shyly smiled back.
We talked until darkness fell and the park was completely empty.
I asked the girl why she was so sad.
The little girl looked at me with a sad face said, "Because, I'm different."
I immediately said, "That you are!"; and smiled.
The little girl acted even sadder and said, "I know."
"Little girl," I said, "you remind me of an angel, sweet and
innocent."
She looked at me and smiled, then slowly she got to her feet and said, "Really?" "Yes, you're like a little Guardian Angel sent to watch over all people walking by."
She nodded her head yes, and smiled.
With that she opened the back of her pink dress and allowed her wings to spread, then she said "I am."
"I'm your Guardian Angel," with a twinkle in her eye.
I was speechless -- sure I was seeing things.
She said, "For once you thought of someone other than yourself. My job here is done".
I got to my feet and said, "Wait, why did no one stop to help an angel?"
She looked at me, smiled, and said, "You're the only one that could see me," and then she was gone.
And with that, my life was changed dramatically. So, when you think you're all you have, remember, your angel is always watching over you.
Pass this to everyone that means anything at all to you.
Make sure you send it back to the person who sent it to you, to let them know you're glad they care about you.
Like the story says, we all need someone...
And, every one of your friends is an Angel in their own way.
The value of a friend is measured in the heart.
I hope your Guardian Angel watches over you always.

Sherri,
Thanks for sharing. That is a wonderful example of growing spiritually--we
really are evolving, even if to the world we look worse!

for myself, I feel even closer to God! I told my husband just yesterday

Dear Betty,

I am so glad that you are home and may get some rest.

I'm sure that you thought of it, but in case you didn't, what about Meals On Wheels? It was a God send when my mom was so ill, but dad still had to eat.

Take care and let me know when you are receiving phone calls.

Re: Removal of my stimulator surgery

2008-09-10 15:54:26

Hi all,
I hate to say it but those words have crossed my lips a few times in
the last couple days.....my current system was place 3 yrs ago in
March and over the last 18 months the coverage area has significantly
decreased as well...my Medtronic rep gave me the name of another
surgeon that she thought would be able to help me out but that did
not go the way I had hoped....I contacted the office to get an
appointment for a consult and was informed that since I had seen
another surgeon in the office that I was considered his pt and would
have to see him....that was not going to happen because he was the
one that replaced my first system and screw up the second one that
eventually my original surgeon fixed by replacing it with my current
rechargeable system....I was told that I could request a review and
if I had a valid reason for switching dr's that they would "consider"
it but that is a "long" process....I finally thank the secretary that
called me back but told her I could see that they were going to be of
no help at all for me....after that call I contacted the surgeon that
put my current system in and I am waiting for a call back from him
probably sometime today (I called 2 days ago and was informed that he
would not get to me that day and he was in surgery yesterday so it
would most likely be today) The reason that I did not call him first
was because of the way that he has been the last two times that I
have been to see him regarding the decreased coverage....the first of
the two times I had the Medtronic rep meet me there for the
appointment and she tried as well to have him either adjust the lead
or replace it with no luck at all either.....got the lecture about
all the risks and he finally sent a letter to my primary suggesting I
start back at the pain clinic because there may have been things that
had changed since I was last there (SURPRISE THERE WASN'T!) Six
months later I went back again for him to basically tell me the same
thing and finally sent a letter to my primary suggesting sending me
back to the pain clinic to be considered for a moriphine
pump....again I went only to find that I was not a canidate for it at
this point and I became a medication guinea pig (THAT WAS NOT A FUN
PROCESS) As I said I called the office and spoke with the secretary
there and of course she pulled my file and then said that I needed to
bring my films with me. When I said I had no films I got "so how
does your primary know that the lead needs to be replaced" and I had
to go over everything from the last 18 months and finally said "and
that is why my primary said it is time to take care of the lead" I
actually told her that this system is of little or no use to me in
the condition that it is right now and that if it can't be fixed I
might as well have it removed...I am sure everyone hear understands
that sometimes not having controlled pain is worse then anything
because it makes the other pain even higher....I get some relief from
it still on the right side but if I turn it off and let my pain even
out and treat it with my meds it seems easier to deal with.....it
actually seems like sometimes that the pain on my left side is worse
when I am using it...I pretty much need the same meds with or without
it....why have these foreign bodies in me with the limitations they
give me when it is providing no significant relief for me. I have
decided that this is how I need to approach the situation now and if
he decides that he won't fix it, I will find another surgeon and get
a second opinion and if that is the same I will decide to have it
removed.....I hate to say this because I have had such great success
with this device when it works the way it is intended...I get at
least 75% releif all the time and a lot of the time I have total
relief without narcotics in my list of meds which is the way I prefer
to have it!
Well sorry to ramble on like this....
Hope all are blessed with a low pain day....

Dear Katie, and all,
I, too, found myself in a spiritual crises after my lupus made me so tired
I could no longer run around ministering to everyone else. I went to a
Centering Prayer meditation weekend offered at a convent. (I am not even
Catholic--they take anyone who is interested.) I spoke with a nun there as
a "Spiritual Director" and she actually said "Congratulations!" She and
others helped me to understand that I am ready to learn (from God's
perspective I suppose) how to go about moving toward the spiritual. She
said it IS a lot harder to work on being still in the presence of God than
to run around busily "ministering." She is right! I began to feel chosen
for this further journey, rather than penalized. My new motto: Be more,
and DO less.
I am looking forward to the reply of others.
I have a lot to learn!

Mike,
If your sons haven't been in the habit of helping it is going to be a little
difficult to get them started helping you at their ages. But, there is no time
like the present for them to start. It will not only help you but help prepare
them for their futures.
Your sons are definitely old enough to clean bathrooms and at least help with
the laundry. If nothing else they are old enough to put their dishes in the
dishwasher and there is no reason for them to not make their own beds and clean
up any mess they may have created.
I know it is hard to stop once you have started but try pacing yourself,
stopping after half an hour and I am sure you will find that in the long run you
will be able to set a lot more done and not hurt near as much.

Hi Katie,

In your email you talked about some very serious illnesses that you are going through. God is proving Himself to you each day....by you being alive. He is very connected to you! I am like you that I miss going to church sometimes for things like the heat. I have Multiple Sclerosis...and the heat is not too kind to me. It has been so hot that last week I was scared to walk out to my mailbox.....afraid that I wouldn't make it back. The heat fatigues me more than normal and makes me dizzy. I am finding great blessings in watching Joyce Meyer Ministries on television. She comes on every morning. She comes on very early, so I tape the program to watch later in the day. I don't know if you are familiar with Joyce Meyer....but she is a wonderful preacher! I get a great peace after I watch her program. You can go to her site to find out when she comes on TV in your area. I am also reading a book that she wrote, titled: Be Anxious For Nothing. It is very up
lifting. Her web site is: http://www.jmministries.com

God Bless you,

I had on new clothes,
New sneaks on my feet.
I was there for class on time,
Went to the back and took my seat.
Yeah, I'm moving up,
I'm already grown.
Soon I'll be graduating,
And out on my own.
I talked to some of my friends,
We were all having fun.
Said some things I shouldn't have said,
Did stuff I shouldn't have done.
I knew I was different.
I felt God touch my heart,
I knew I should set a standard,
But then I'd be set apart.
Walking to the bus,
I was not looking for strength.
I heard the car tires screeching,
But now it's too late.
I'm standing in this room,
And I can see the heavenly gate.
Oh no! I never prayed.
I thought I had time to get it straight.
An angel walked to me,
He had a book in his hand.
I knew it was the Book of Life,
When would this dream end?
I told him my name,
And he began to look.
Then he looked at me sadly and said,
Your name is not in this book.
Angel, this is a dream,
No, I can't be dead!
He closed the book and turned away,
He whispered - You cannot proceed ahead.
No...no this can't be real,
Angel, you can't turn me away.
Let me talk to God,
Maybe he'll let me stay.
He led me to the gate,
Jesus came to me.
He did not let me in but said,
Beloved what is your need?
Jesus, I cried, please,
Don't cast me away from you.
Tears ran down his face as he said,
You knew what you needed to do.
Lord, please I'm young,
I never thought I would die.
I thought I'd have plenty of time,
Death caught me by surprise.
Lord, I went to church,
Please Jesus, I believe.
He said you would not accept me,
My love you would not receive.
Lord, there were too many hypocrites,
They weren't being true.
He took a step back and asked,
What does that have to do with you?
Lord, my family claimed to be saved,
They weren't real, You know.
He said, I died for you,
Now I have to go.
I fell to my knees crying to Him,
Lord, I planned to be real tomorrow.
I couldn't, make Him understand,
I had never -- felt such sorrow.
Then it hit me hard, I said,
Lord, where will I go?
He looked into my eyes and said,
My child you already know.
Please Jesus, I begged,
The place is so hot.
It seemed to trouble and grieve him,
He whispered, DEPART FROM ME, I KNOW YOU NOT.
Lord, you're supposed to be love,
How can you send me to damnation?
He replied, With your mouth you said you loved me,
But each day you rejected my salvation.
Then, all of a sudden,
Day turned into night.
I never knew such torture could be,
Now too late, I know the Bible is right.
If I can tell you anything,
Hell has no age.
It is a place of torture,
Separated from God and full of rage.
You know, I thought it was funny -- a joke,
But this one thing is true.
If you never accept Jesus Christ,
HELL IS WAITING FOR YOU!
So please, ask Him into your heart.
Please show this to everyone you care about.
(((which should be everybody)))
IF SOMEONE HAD A GUN HELD IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE,
AND ASKED YOU IF YOU BELIEVED IN GOD,
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
SAY NO AND FEEL ASHAMED THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?
OR SAY YES, I DO, AND DIE STANDING UP FOR GOD?
IF YOU'D SAY NO, THEN DELETE THIS E-MAIL.
IF YOU WOULD STAND UP FOR JESUS CHRIST,
THEN SEND THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND THE PERSON
WHO
SENT IT TO YOU.
Never mind the storm. When you're one with God,
there is always a rainbow waiting.
PEACE & BLESSINGS

Tentra Totem

2008-09-07 18:07:21

The Tentra has arrived from India. Whether you believe in superstitions
or not, devote a few moments in order to read the Tentra. This is the
TENTRA NEPALESE TOTEM, for good fortune. This Tentra Totem was sent to you
for good fortune. It has already circled the world 10 times.
Good fortune will reach you within 4 days from receiving the Tentra. Send
copies to whomever you think is in need of good fortune.
Instructions for life:
* Eat plenty of whole rice.
* Give people more than they expect and do this willfully
* Learn by heart your favorite song.
* Don't believe anything you hear and do not sleep as much as you
would like to.
* When you say, "I love you", say it truthfully.
* When you say, "I'm sorry", say it with eye contact.
* An engagement period of 6 months is crucial before marriage.
* Believe in love at first sight.
* Never mock others' dreams.
* Love deeply and passionately. You may get hurt, but this is the
only way to live life to the fullest.
* Deal with discontentment, fight fairly but do not offend.
* Do not judge others because of their relatives.
* Talk slow, think fast.
* When someone asks you a question you do not want to answer, smile
and ask: "Why do you want to know?"
* Remember that the greatest love and the greatest successes also
hold many risks.
* Call your mom.
* Bless a person who has just sneezed.
* When you lose, do not lose the lesson.
* Remember: Respect for yourself, respect for others and
responsibility for your actions. Do not allow a small disagreement to
hurt a great friendship.
* When you notice you have made a mistake, take the appropriate steps in
order to correct it.
* Smile when you answer the phone. Those who call can "hear" your
smile.
* Marry the person you love talking to the most. When you get old,
conversation will be important more than anything else.
* Spend some time alone.
* Accept change with open arms; yet do not give up your values.
* Remember that sometimes, silence is the best answer.
* Read more books and watch television less.
* Live a good, honorable life. Later, when you grow old and remember
the past, you will enjoy them once more.
* Believe and trust god, whomever / whatever you conceive God to be,
but securely lock your car.
* An atmosphere of love at your home is most important. Do all that
you can in order to create a calm home full of love.
* Do not bring back the past.
* Read in between the lines.
* Share your knowledge. It is the way to live forever.
* Be gentle with our Earth planet.
* Pray. Prayer has incredible power.
* Never interrupt someone who flatters you.
* Take care of your problems.
* Do not trust a man or a woman who do not close their eyes when you
kiss them.
* Once a year, visit a place you never did before.
* If you make a lot of money, channel it so as to help others while
you are alive. This is the greatest satisfaction a treasure can reward
you.
* Remember that sometimes, not getting what you want is being very
lucky.
* Learn all the rules, and then break some.
* Remember that the greatest relationships are the ones in which the
love between two people is greater than the need one has of the other.
* Judge your success in light of what you had to give up in order to
obtain it.
* Relate to love and to the kitchen completely.
Do not keep this letter. The Tentra Totem must leave your hands within
96

Hi, need suggestions please.........

2008-09-07 16:00:41

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your summer. Lately I have
felt so disconnected from myself. Three months ago I was hospitalized
for a week with congestive heart faiure, from dilated cardiomyopathy,
my heart is enlarged and ventricles are not pumping as they should.
I am on heart meds, also have ptsd, depression and anxiety. So much
has happened to me medically that I don't know who I am anymore. I
feel I am one with my ailments. I know that this is not true, I am
much more than that, a brave courageous survivor who has seen more
than her share of troubles in her 39 years of life so far.
I am trying to connect to God on a personal basis and find this hard.
I write a lot so that does help some. I am also very introspective
and very spiritual (christian) which helps me a great deal. In fact
my faith is the only thing that is keeping together.
I keep telling myself that God has not brought me this far to drop
me, He has not done that for any of us. It just gets so hard
sometimes, how does one cope?
I want to return to church, but have found my heart condition
prohibits me at times, especially in the heat! I get fatigued and
very short of breath and sometimes dizzy.
Any suggestions on how to cope, what works for you? I love to read,
write, take scenic photos and gaze at the ocean, also love to cook
and go blueberry and raspberry picking.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Fondly,
Katie

Dear Amber,
I, too, want to extend my sympathy and welcome to you. Thank you for being
willing to take on a child who might die before he was three. That must
have really been a blessing to you, and a marvel for those around you.
Your grief must be so profound. I know God will hold your baby in His
arms, and it will be springtime for your child. When you leave this earth,
you will once again be with your child. I had many miscarriages, and I
look so forward to seeing those babies I never really met.
Blessings,

How an 8 year old explains God

2008-09-06 17:41:52

I know this has gone around, but it is so good.
THIS ONE IS FABULOUS!!! It was written by an 8 year old, Danny Dutton of
Chula Vista, CA, for his third grade homework assignment.
The assignment was to explain God. I just wonder if any of us could do
as well???
EXPLANATION OF GOD
"One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones
that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He
doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and
easier to make. That way He doesn't have to take up His valuable time
teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and
fathers."
"God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful
lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray
at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or
TV because of this. Because He hears everything, there must be a terrible
lot
of noise in His ears, unless He has thought of a way to turn
it off."
"God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which
keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His time by going
over your Mom and Dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't
have."
"Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are
any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church."
"Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on
water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who
didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of Him preaching
to them and they crucified Him. But He was good and kind, like His
Father and He told His Father that they didn't know what they were doing
and
to forgive them and God said O.K."
"His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His
hard work on earth so He told Him He didn't have to go out on the road
anymore. He could stay in heaven. So He did. And now He helps His Dad out by
listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take
care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother
God. Like a secretary, only more important."
"You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because
they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time."
"You should always go to church because it makes God happy, and if
there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God.
"Don't skip church or do something you think will be more fun like
going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at
the beach until noon anyway."
"If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very
lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but
God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared in the dark
or
when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids."
"But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I
figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases.
And...that's why I believe in God."
If you believe in God pass this on. God bless.

Hello Amber

2008-09-06 06:57:50

Hello Amber,

I am saddened to hear of the death of your precious Samuel. It is a very hard path in this life that we must take when a child dies. I lost my first born daughter 10 years ago. My Caitlyn was 14 months old at the time of her death. I found comfort in thinking about Caitlyn in Jesus' arms. I can just see the huge smile on her face as she looks up at Jesus! Amber, I have lifted you up to God, and have prayed that He will keep his loving arms wrapped around you, to help you with your grief. If you ever want to touch base with a Mother who has a child in Heaven, please email me.

God Bless you and your family,

Sherri
