Good morning,

I am going to no mail for a week or so. Reason is I have to stay in bed on my right side. The pressure sores has turned into a real bad ulcer. It hurts so much to set up in my chair.

If you need to reach me email me directly at cjnfour@... I will be able to get up for an hour day, so I will be checking email. On another note, I am over the flu.

2008-04-29 02:19:26

hello all...my name is denise. i live in atlanta georgia. my daddy is
getting the spinal stimulator implanted next week...he lives in chicago
illinois. my dad has had back pain for many years and in his legs. he
takes enough pain meds to knock out a horse, and still has pain! i am
nervous about infection, with the implant. he had an IDET done about
2years ago that landed him in the University of Chicago hospital with a
horible infection...i flew to see him,,and i truely thought i was going
to lose my daddy to that infection.
i really want my dad to be as pain free as postible, so i really hope
this implant will help and not cause infection.
anyone have any words of encuragement for "daddy's little girl" who is
800 miles away from her daddy? or on the flip side, can anyone tell me
of infections they know of from getting the Spinal stimulator implant?

RE: [Stimulator] Pain Control !

2008-04-27 14:03:50

Hello Rob,
Welcome to the group. I have never heard of using Hypnosis. Let me know
how it works for you. I too have a pump and an SCS and also take meds. I
am so frustrated with this. One would think that after four surgeries that
things would be better. I must say though, that my last pump increase
seemed to be improving. Ive had the most relief this time than any other
increase. Because I nearly died after the surgery, they have had to keep it
very low and slow increments.
I wish you well.

Pain Control !

2008-04-26 22:51:01

Hello All,
I have a question for the group, has anyone here used Hypnosis as a way to
help control the pain we are all in ? I have used my mind at times to try and
control the pain, but is never enough to help me with all the pain that I have
everyday! I thought that I might try Hypnosis to see if there might be a
possibility of getting some relief from my pain as well as getting rid of some
stress in my life! Any thoughts on this matter ? FYI I have a pump and a scs
implanted and I also take bt meds, I'm just tired of all the drugs that goes
into my body!
I've also had 7 surgeries on my back! Have a good day, thanks!

power chair

2008-04-26 19:20:12

Hello All,
I've had AA for about 6 yrs now, AA has spread from my left side of my
back to the whole back! Both my legs have been effected by AA, pain in both
legs and feet, i've used a cane for 3 yrs and the last 4 months I've had to use
crutches to get around! 3 months ago I had my scs replaced... not fun...I was
under the knife for 2 1/2 hrs! There is so much scar tissue along my spine that
the doc had a hard time pushing the wires through all of the scar tissue! He
tried using a larger wire to make room for the smaller wire, with no luck, he
even used water under pressure to open the tissue for the wire to go through. I
have never had so much pain in my life, they kept waking me up so I could tell
them where the wire was at. Thia was suppose to help the scs have better
coverage... not so, I could not use the scs for almost 6 weeks after the
surgery, it still doesn't feel right! No more cutting on this old man, no
more....I've had all's I can take with the knife. I've been
cut on 7 times now, so I think it's time to say enough!
Any way I've had so much trouble walking that my Doc told me I should
start using a wheel chair to get a round in. Well I tried the standard wheel
chair and as long as someone pushes me, I'm ok, I can't push myself in the wheel
chair it's to hard on my back! So the doc told me to try and get a power chair
or a scooter! The scooter I can't use in my house, it's too long for me to get
into some of the rooms in my house... the bathroom being one of them, very
important to get into the bathroom! lol So i went and tried a few power chairs
out and it works just fine and I can get into the bathroom in the power chair.
So I'm trying to get medicare to pay for it, there is no way I can afford to buy
one! I have True Blue insurance with my medicare so I hope that they can help
pay for the chair. My question is has any of you had any luck getting a power
chair with the help of medicare and the insurance company?? I've been told that
it might take any where from 4 to 8 weeks
before I will be able to get one...does anyone know if that is true??
Well enough for now, hope for low pain day for all, take care!

When Jesus Looks

2008-04-26 17:10:09

When Jesus Looks
When Jesus looks upon my life, What picture does He see. Does He see His
own reflection, Or does He just see me.
Does He see His likeness, The product of His hand. Or just another
Christian, Who never took a stand.
Does He see a child of God, A child that He set free. Living life to honor
Him, Or does He just see me.
What about the other folks, I meet along the way. Do I show them Jesus, To
brighten up their day.
When someone looks into my eyes, Can they truly see. That calm and gentle
peace of God, That dwells inside of me.
When I reach out and shake a hand, Is He right there in my grip. Can they
feel that strength From God, That steadies when I slip.
When folks are in my presence, Do they know His Spirit's there. Can they
see that He's the one, Who guides me everywhere.
When other people think of me, What is on their mind. Do they think of
Jesus Christ, So gentle and so kind.
I try to be like Jesus, Every single day. Spreading love and kindness, All
along my way.
I'm afraid that I have failed, I could not pass the test. Deep inside my
heart I know, I haven't done my best.
I have had to fight my flesh, Since the day that I was born. It's
always causing trouble, And being such a thorn.
That's why His Spirit dwells in me, He's helping me to learn. In every
situation, Where I need to turn.
He knew I'd never pass the test, That's why He took my place. He gave His
life to save my soul, He suffered my disgrace. Now I try to be like Him, I
must present Him well. So other folks will want His gift, And turn their
backs on hell.
Other folks should see the joy, That Christ has given me. They should want
to have it too, Especially since it's free.
They should begin to ask me, What is it they must do. Just how it is they
go about, Getting Jesus too.
Then I get to tell them, This wondrous gift is free. It only takes a
humble heart, A prayer on bended knee.
Someday when I'm face to face, With the Lord who set me free. Will He see
His own reflection, Or will He just see me.

after being on Keflex 3x/day since the end of Jan '06, debried.
surgeries in March & April, & then I found out it was staaph-but not
MRSA thank goodness!! Then we did a PICC line, 6 weeks of IV
antibiotics, then 2, 21 day rounds of Zyvox, the oral antibiotic you
take after the IV Vancomycin. I had the 2nd paddle/dorsal cord SCS
placed 2/9/07, the NS ran into lots of scar tissue on the dura, when
placing the electrodes & I ended up w/36 hrs of the Lt leg being
paralyzed, (&it was the better leg before surgery),& partial paralysis
from waist down & into Rt leg, foot--even bladder. So I ended up
w/Foley after being st. cathed x2! After IV steroiods for 24 hours,
motion & control came back slowly over the 10 days I was in Hosp. I
thought the Lyrica they put me on was a miracle drug for the nerve
pain/spasms around the ribcage; until I started having 2/3'ds of the
side effects, & adverse reactions on the list to it 2 weeks later. I
just finished up the Lasix 20mg, & potassium Tuesday, & the swelling
was starting back that afternoon!!!Now I wait for the doc to call back
& I hope he continues Lasix till my f/u on the 19th. Gotta go, need to

My Name Is I Am

2008-04-26 00:44:39

My Name is I Am
I was regretting the past
and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking :
"My Name is I Am"
He paused.
I waited. He continued,
"When you live in the past
with its mistakes and regrets,
it is hard. I am not there.
My name is not I WAS.
When you live in the future
with its problems and fears,
it is hard. I am not there.
My name is not I WILL BE.
When you live in this moment
It is not hard. I am here.
My name is I AM."

Re: ThornsonMyRoses Digest Number 163

2008-04-25 18:46:46

Hi to Dorothy and all the members here:
I really like the "embroidering your life" story. How comforting.

Embroidering Your Life.........I really like this one

2008-04-25 15:03:07

"Embroidering Your Life"
When I was little, my mother used to sew a great deal. I would sit at
her knee and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She
informed me that she was embroidering.
As from the underside I watched her work within the boundaries of the
little round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it
sure looked messy from where I sat.
She would smile at me, look down and gently say, "Child, you go about
your playing for a while, and when I am finished with my embroidering, I
will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side."
I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the bright
ones and why they seemed so jumbled from my view. A few minutes would
pass and then I would hear Mother's voice say,
"Child, come and sit on my knee."
This I did only to be surprised and thrilled to see a beautiful flower,
or a sunset. I could not believe it, because from underneath it looked
so messy.
Then Mother would say to me, "My child, from underneath it did look
messy and jumbled, but you did not realize that there was a plan on the
top.
It was a design. I was only following it. Now look at it from my
side and you will see what I was doing."
Many times through the years I have looked up to heaven and said,
"Father, what are You doing?"
He has answered, "I am embroidering your life."
I say, "But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumbled. The threads
seem so dark. Why can't they all be bright?"
The Father seems to tell me, "'My child, you go about your business of
doing My business, and one day will bring you to Heaven and put you on
My knee and you will see the plan from My side."

Late for work

2008-04-25 08:12:22

Sure looks real to me Carrie. Look at all the blood. Reminds me of an incident

a few yrs. ago where my neighbor had a gopher or ground hog under his hood one night. This car was just refurbished for his daughter graduating from high school from Grandma, a few yrs. old but was just painted, everything redone for her to go off to college. Well, a rather large dog found out this little critter was under the hood and absolutely demolished the car, totaled it trying to get to it, even flattened all 4 tires. The vinyl roof was completely scratched off, it was unbelievable. Kojo was there, LOL. The guy just happened to be the city manager and the police were called. Shortly after a large white dog was found full of blood with his nails filed down to nothing. One of my cats thought that was a warm place to sleep, so maybe it's not so uncommon for animals to sleep there. Makes you wonder where a snake of that size came from.....?

bible study and personal thoughts on 'WHY hasn't He healed us?'

2008-04-24 21:54:47

this is kinda long, but that's because I studied this for months off and on and
came up with several answers.
I asked the question originally, not as a food for thought kinda question..I
REALLY wanted to know...to understand the best I am able. Hard scriptural
evidence...words straight from God. I believe he can, I
have faith the size of a mustard seed, I have prayed,I
have had others prayer for me, have had hands lain on me, and annointed with oil
by the elders of my church, I have confessed, repented, found hidden sin in my
life,I have cried, I have begged, I have whined, I have tried to make deals.....
I know that in our weakness His strength is evident..got that. So, why isn't He
healing me now?
I know that if I never felt pain or sorrow I wouldn't know what it is like to
need Him. Been there, done that, understand it.
Doesn't the bible say things like;
Is 53:15 ..by His stripes we are healed....
Matt 7:7 ..ask, and it shall be given unto you....
John 14:13-14 ..whatever ye ask in my name, I will do it..
Matt 7:8 ....everyone that asketh, receiveth...
James 5:16 ...confess your faults, one to another, and pray for one another that
ye may be healed...
been there, done that too. And I am still NOT healed. WHAT am I missing here?
Yes, I know we aren't meant to understand God's ways. But, WHY does the bible
say things like that above? I believe the bible is the infallilbe inerrant word
of God...He isn't saying something that isn't true....but WHAT am I missing????
I have prayed about this many many times..the Lord has shown me several things
about this whole situation. First....regarding the above scriptures..notice
there are continuation marks on both sides of the statement made? Isn't it just
like himan nature to only hear what we want to hear? The bible does say those
things...but..if you read before and after, and in other scriptures, it says
things like
But, seek ye first the kingdom of God.... Matt 6:33
..ask anything in His will..1 John 5:21
we pray THY will be done....but do we mean it? I don't. Not when it comes to
being sick. I want to use the scriptures I talked about earlier..just those
parts that I like to repeat.
So, then I got to thinking (or listening) and God showed me how this works...we
are not partners He and I, not equal partners, not spouses, not co-anything.I am
His child. I am a mom, and I am sure that you can all relate to the unwavering
(responsible) love of the parent to child relationship. I love my kids...I want
what is best for them, and I want to make them happy and give them everything
they want. Right? Well, giving them everything they want is not necessarily
what is best for them. I thought about this in the most simplistitc
terms....candy for dinner. My kid would be happy if I let him/her have candy
for dinner everynight. That is not what is best for him/her, is it? WHAT???????
You mean........????????
Those statements about loving and wanting what is best for our child applies to
the Lords parentship (is that a word?) of us. They are two totally seperate,
complete, not go-hand-in-hand statements. As a parent, what takes priority,
your child's happiness or what is best for them? (About here is where I started
mumbling..'but...but....but......I am a grown child!!!)
So our will takes precedence over their wants....God's will takes precedence
over our wants. (right about now, things are starting to make a little more
sense.)
Just as we deny or postpone something our child wants for his best interest, so
also does the Lord. I don't how this could possibly be for my best
interest....but I can hear my earthly father's voice as well as my heavelny
Father's "Because I am your father and I said so."

Surprise!! Christy is still around/update/request

2008-04-24 15:29:50

well, I am still around, just very quiet lately. Between you and me..life sucks.
I am cranky, irritable, can't sleep.have two boys that seem possesed, and a
husband that is about as steady as a mud puddle for me to lean on. Fortunately,
I have Jesus to lean on, unfortuantely, I never do until I am at my wit's end.
Remember the question I asked maybe a few months ago....'why hasn't God healed
us'? well, I did some study on it....maybe that is why I am kinda cranky
today. The answer is not what I wanted to think it has taken me til today to
accept it. (Picture spoiled brat throwing temper tantrum at Daddy's
feet...."BUT I WANNA BE HEALED!!!!!) I appreciated the input from all of you on
the question..but I, personally, needed some hard evidence in scripture. Next
post will be on the scriptures I found.
Is there anybody who wants to post bible studies on a regular basis? I am just
too sick and too overwhelmed by life to do much on a consistent basis...I hate
the list to continue to suffer as it has with silence. All I ask is that it not
be denominational in nature....and that it IS sound biblical principles. Please
email if interested, I would like to okay it before it is posted. If you want
to post once in a while, let me know too, okay? I would like the list to be
more useful as a source of Christian support....but I can't do much more right
now. Please pray about it.
I will do my best, and also will be in prayer about it. I know that if it is
the Lord's will, He will provide what I need to do it.
These two children we have adopted have put an incredible strain on our
homelife, my health and spirituality, our family and even our marriage.
Homeschooling is the best thing we could have done, but certainly not the
easiest.
I know I am very quiet lately, but I want you to know that I love you all and it
is a blessing to me just to know that you are there for me tot alk to, and ask
questions with. Reminds me of Job, when his friends came and tore their
clothes, and sprinkled dirt on their heads and just sat with Job in grief. I
kinda feel like you are all sitting in torn rags and dirty faces next to me :-)

FW: TEAR JERKER

2008-04-24 12:56:43

Perfect timing my Friend! And Fitting too!!!

--
May The Lord Smile Upon You Today!! `;~)

TEAR JERKER!!!!!!!

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year- old
Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa,
and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and
they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the
family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to
perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it
would be good for the four-year-old Shane
to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn
something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's
family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for
the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy
seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or
confusion.
We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud
about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting
explanation.
He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a
good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice,
right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how
to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply, Speak kindly. Leave the
rest to God.

He's The Reason Why

2008-04-23 21:23:00

HE'S THE REASON WHY
People often ask me, why I live the life I live. Why is it that to God
my soul I choose to give. I answer them proudly, with my spirits lifted
high. Jesus Christ my Savior, He's the reason why.
He gave his life at Calvary, to save both you and me. The price how very
great it was, still Jesus paid the fee. They hung Him on cross, and
pierced Him in His side. So that we could live, my Jesus chose to die.
Still just when people thought, they had seen the end. My Jesus in all
His glory, He came back again. And you ask me why I give my life,
It's cause it is not mine to keep.
It's been bought by God with the blood of Christ, So what choice is left
for me. I can live my life down here on Earth and be just who I am. Or I
can live for God while I'm here, and live again in the promise land.
You make your choice, but mines been made. I choose my mansion, over a
fiery grave. The task is very simple, it's impossible to fail. You give
your life to Jesus, and you save yourself from hell. So you can ask me
each and every day, but my story will remain the same.
Cause if my name's erased from the book of life, I've only me to blame.
So see while.
People often ask me, why I live the life I live. Why is it that to God
my soul I choose to give. I answer them proudly, with my spirits lifted
high. Jesus Christ my Savior, He's the reason why. Jesus Christ my
Savior, He's the reason why.
We are all servants if you think about it. We either serve the Lord and
do his will, or we serve the world and ourselves and do our own will.
Here is a scripture that I keep in mind all the time.
Joshua 24:15, "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then
choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods
your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites,
in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will
serve the LORD."

Re: Christians Repent

2008-04-23 15:21:33

Jane,
I went to your website and most all the links were down. From what I read
you seem to be saying that if your in a Church no matter what Church your
not going to be Saved? So correct me if I am wrong but from what your
website says I think your saying you have to be Saved by the blood of Jesus
Christ (I agree) but even if your Saved if you belong to a Church, any
Church, your damned?
Please correct me, or your website, if this isnt what your trying to say and
if it is then we need to talk.
Melanie

Christians Repent

2008-04-23 08:44:59

Sound the trumpet and the alarm we are to witness for the Lord.
All Christians fit into one seven groups mentioned in the Book of
Revelation chapter 2 and 3. Five of them the Lord is angry at, two of
them he is not. Which group do you belong to, find out and if it is
one of the five, then you need to repent and do what he is telling
you. There isn't much time till Antichrist appears, Jesus will be
coming after that.
Do not depend on a rapture, because their will be no rapture away
from the earth. The Lord is too angry at his Churches, he is going to
put them through the tribulation because of their evil ways and that
they have turned against him.
Go to my website and find out more
www.geocities.com/christians_repent
Repent as it is written that was Johns message and that will be the
two witnesses message. Christian will not be saved from the
tribulation to come, they are the reason the tribulation is
happening. The people of the world have always been evil, but today
it is those that call themselves christians that are an abomination
to the Lord.
Repent Christians before it is to late and you are ashamed at the
coming of the Lord and he arrives a s a thief as it is written.

my Mother-in-law died

2008-04-23 05:29:25

My Mother in law died last night. She went to the hospital with what they thought was the flu. While waiting for the results from tests she laid back to rest. She never woke up. And the funny thing is the doctors were going to let her go home!! She was 87 years old.

Please pray for her that she's now happy and healthy with her son (my hubby) and her daughter... she lost Both to lung cancer in the past 2 years.

The family understands that my old van won't make it to Virginia and I can't afford to rent a car to go to the funeral.

Thanks for listening! Love, Carrie

RE: [Stimulator] Fw: newbie here

2008-04-21 15:28:13

Welcome Teresa!
I have a SCS that was implanted the past February. I had tried everything
prior to it. My first surgery (I've had 3 and going for #4) was a
discectomy. My surgeon at the time botched the surgery and has caused
permanent nerve damage in my left foot. I get about 30% relief from my SCS.
It's not much in the whole scope of things, but it was worth it. Any relief
is better than none.
Because of all the emotional issues that long term pain can cause, I believe
the psych exam is to see what your stability is. Are you suicidal, are your
goals and expectations of the SCS realistic, are you addicted to pain meds
as well as how mentally stable are you in regards to dealing with anger,
depression etc. with your family and so forth. I've never heard of anyone
failing it. Some of the questions are off the wall but it's really not a
big deal.
Best wishes!

Guy Was Late for Work...
READ THIS PARAGRAPH BEFORE YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES .
This will freak you out.
A guy in St. Louis was driving to work on Hwy I-44 when he heard a 'pop.' He thought it sounded like a flat tire, though his ride wasn't affected. After pulling over, checking the tires and finding them intact he opened the hood to look at the motor.
Before the hood was even all the way open he jumped back in shock and knocked his head on the partially opened hood, unable to believe what his eyes were seeing!
Nobody was going to believe this! You sure wouldn't have either! Fortunately, a coworker with a camera recognized him along side the road and stopped to see if he could help. Check out the photos below to witness for your self the source of his amazement.
Now, this has to be right up there at the top of the list of unusual but verified"Reasons I was late for work ."

Debbie,
Welcome to the group. I hope your trial and possible implant goes well. I
have an SCS for low back/leg nerve damage so I can not speak specifically
how it works for the neck.
I agree, some of the questions on the psych exam are really off the wall. I
don't recall the glass question being asked. That's an interesting one.
Best wishes for success and a speedy recovery.

Re: Left Behind/Hollywood/personal situation

2008-04-19 23:01:10

Hi Christy, and other list members:
Wow! I saw an ad for the Left Behind movie last night and I am jazzed to get it.
I have been reading the books and I am ready to start the one called Assassins
now. I am enjoying this book series and I want to encourage all list members to
read it.
You don't have to buy these either, your local library should have them as mine
does. But I have seen this book series in paperback for as little as $8.00
each, so everybody should read it!
As for the movie, I think it is a good idea to release it to video first. I
remember last year's "The Omega Code" which was a great story but didn't do too
well in theaters no matter what TBN did to promote it. It even had some heavy
Hollywood talent in in (Michael Ironside and Michael York) but I guess the
problem was it didn't have blood/guts/sex/foul language. We Christians just
have to get out to the theaters in support of Christian-themed film projects!
On a personal note, Christy I will pray for your situation with the boys. God
wouldn't have allowed them to be placed with you if you didn't have the "right
stuff" to care for them and be Godly parents to them. I encourage you to seek
His guidance and peace for your family and to be strong in this time of testing.
I am sorry to hear about your additional diagnoses, but on the other hand they
may help you win disability benefits.
Hang in there!

Left Behind series-new book, movie (personal life update on me)

2008-04-19 13:23:21

just got the new book (The Mark) and the movie!!!!!
will read the book tomorrow, watched the movie tonight. Got Jesus bumps from
the getgo and they never left.
They released the video first, so that we who watch it, can get excited and tell
others aobut it, so hopefully when the Feb. 2, 01 release date for theaters
rolls around, there will be enough interest to 1) get the general public to see
it (not just the less than 1% of us) 2) enough of a showing in theaters to show
Hollywood that there is a market for media enterainment with a Christian view
and 3)enough interest shown to make it worthwhile to make the rest of the books
into movies.....
very good reasons I will be actually going to the theater for the first time in
YEARS!!! (I think how well the video is doing will also determine what markets
it is released in theaters in)
BTW, the movie doesn't follow the book exactly, but I think that is because
there would be too much to cram into 2 hours and then the finished product
quality would suffer. The book is always better anyway, but the video is
definately worth seeing.
(My how little Mikey Seaver has grown!!!!!) And the Carpathia character really
just draws you in.....There were even moments I close to crying (okay, I did
shed a tear or two)so, I highly recommend it. AND, if you haven't been reading
the series....why not? It's exciting, and we know who wins!!!! (even though we
won't be here for it, it sure is comforting to know how this battle turns out)
on a personal note, I have been pretty quiet on all the lists. Life just isn't
going all that well right now for us here in the Britain home. Spiritual
warfare aplenty.....I just don't know what to do with these two boys...I
atrually had to call the police to come and help me restrain the 8 year
old.....he was trying to hang himself, going for the knives, attacking me
physically and verbally (I am just a big fat pig :-( )
Two nights ago he had a huge rage, and physically battled with my hubby. I am
just sick with grief over this whole situation. (No way anyone could have
prepared us for this. Even if the social workers had told us, we would not have
been able to comprehend the magnitude or the intensity of these rage and fits.
And no none told us that Ryan was a self-mutilator. Probably best that we
didn't know. I guess there is some truth to the old adage that ignorance is
bliss)
Healthy wise, I have gotten another diagnosis. Two actually. Besides the
fibromyalgia, I have been told that I have chronic fatigue syndrome and
myofacial pain syndrome. MPS was not a surprise to me..but the CFS was,
especially because no dr ever told me, I found by reading a report from SSI.
(Which I am in the process of appealing for reconsideration) So, that's my
update for now

Introduction

2008-04-19 03:24:44

I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself to the list. I am
scheduled for my SCS trial on 1/10/07. If all goes well the permanant
one is scheduled for 1/17/07. I have had chronic neck pain for years.
I don't know the initial cause of my problems as it is something that
developed slowly over the years as opposed to a known accident. I've
been diagnosed with facet & disc arthritis, pinched nerves, damaged
discs, bone spurs, a stretch injury to my nerves & a congenital
abnormaility. I feel very fortunate to have found a pain doctor that
I really like that takes the time to listen to me. We have gone the
injection route with epidurals, nerve blocks, nerve root blocks &
facet joint injections. None of the injections have helped, the
injections themselves were very painful & they made things hurt worse
for a week or so after each procedure.
Most of the posts I've read have been regarding back or leg pain.
Does anyone have experience with the SCS for neck pain?
How does this procedure compare pain wise to the injections? Since
the injections were so painful for me does that mean the procedure
will be very painful as well? I know that I'll have to deal with the
additional pain from the incision for the generator.
I just had my psych exam. The doctor never talked to me. He just had
me complete some connect the dots tests & answer a BUNCH of questions.
Some of the questions were very random & then they'd ask me if I
wanted to kill any of my doctors. (I was glad I could answer that 1
with never). :) One of the questions really threw me. It asked if I
was allergic to the glass found in jars. Thinking back on it that was
1 of the questions I had to answer when I started with this pain
doctor. Does anyone know what is the point of this question? Is
there a big problem with people being allergic to glass or is there
some hidden meaning to this questions?
Sorry for the long post. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, have a good Thanksgiving

oh boy!

I just got back from the doctor and was diagnosed with about as many
infections as one person can have at once: sinusitis, upper respiratory
infection,
bronchitis, restricted (or was it constricted?) airways (with crackles and rales
in all parts of both lungs), and skin infections on both incisions from my
recent surgery.
She prescribed 750 mg Levaquin daily for the infections (gave me samples).
Also prescribed proventil inhaler to be used 4 times a day to open up the
airways, Mucinex OTC to thin the "gunk" in my lungs and sinuses, and a cough
syrup
with codeine to use at night or anytime I don't mind being sleepy.
I'm to call her Monday or Tuesday if there is no improvement, and she will
reevaluate and probably do a chest x-ray.
I'm too busy for this so I need to get "all better" ASAP! :o) I have this
weird peace that 2007 is going to be a better year, but I had no idea that this
year would end crummy. I'd be perfectly happy if 2007 could start NOW! :o)
I have 6500 words (total) to edit by Sunday night, if possible, for 3
different clients. Two of them are not hard and fast deadlines, but I work
better
with self-imposed deadlines. Russ and I also have special plans for next week.
I'm not sick in bed, so at least that is something to be grateful for.
Anyway, I'd sure appreciate your prayers!
Kathy

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.
"What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning.
"There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you; but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."
The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse; but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."
The mouse turned to the cow and said "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.
The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.
The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital, and she returned home with a fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main
ingredient.
But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many people came for
her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember -- when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.
SEND THIS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER HELPED YOU OUT AND LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE.
REMEMBER: EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY; OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER
FOR A REASON.
ONE OF THE BEST THINGS TO HOLD ON TO IN THIS WORLD IS A FRIEND.

Jerusalem

I got this one this evening. It is the latest I have.
Thank you all for
praying and I ask you to please keep praying as the
Spirit leads you. God
bless each and every one of you in the nam of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
In Christ's pure and perfect love,
David
Dear David
Shabbat Shalom to all of you. First of all allow me
to
make a correction regarding the message I sent out
last
night for worldwide prayer on November 1. Yes, it is
November 1, Wednesday, not Monday. I apologize for
the
error. This worldwide prayer is scheduled for 6:00 pm
Israel time which will be 11:00 am on the east coast
of the
US, 10:00 am central time, 9:00 am mountain time and
8:00
am Pacific time. Please join with multiplied
thousands of
Jews and Christians who will be praying at that time.
Today, Friday, was another proclaimed "Day of Rage" in
Israel, marked by a suicide bombing attempt in the
West
Bank and clashes throughout the region. After
nightfall,
shooting and fighting disturbed the peace that Shabbat
should bring. Areas of violence include Hebron,
Bethlehem,
Gaza, the West Bank and again the Jerusalem
neighborhood of
Gilo. A friend who lives in Gilo wrote just before
Shabbat
began and closed his message with these words: "It is
now
only minutes before Shabbat begins so we sign off and
thank
you for all your prayers as we face, what many predict
to
be, a difficult weekend. Our next report will be
Sunday
night, assuming we live to write it." Sobering words,
to
say the least.
This weekend is predicted to be a very difficult one,
not
only in Israel but in other parts of the world as
well, if
the numerous threats come to fruition. Arafat is now
working openly with the terrorist group, Hamas, to
continue
his Jihad of violence, hatred and terrorism. One of
history's most cruel and bizarre examples of how
adults
will sacrifice children for the sake of political
ambition
was the Children's crusade of 1212 when thousands of
children were sent from Europe, inspired by alleged
visionaries, to re-take the Holy Land from the
Muslims.
Thousands died of disease and starvation. Those that
reached the Middle East were taken prisoner by the
Muslims
and sold as slaves. This Medieval sense of "value",
or
should I say lack of value of a child's life is still
part
of Muslim thinking and is being displayed daily in
this
present conflict as children are being sent out to
provoke
conflict and then their dead bodies being used for
propaganda in the west. I have just completed today
the
next issue of our regular newsletter dealing with the
real
issues in the Middle East conflict from a biblical
perspective. If you are already on our regular "snail
mail" list, you will receive it in about two weeks.
If you
are not on our mailing list and would like a copy, it
will
be posted on the website within a few days. We will
advise
you when it is posted.
May the peace and rest which Shabbat means be yours in
special measure this weekend, and may you be blessed
as you
intercede for Israel.
Shabbat shalom,
Barbara

my stimulator update

2008-04-18 00:50:36

Hi, all-for you newbies let me give you a brief background.
I had the trial for my spinal cord stimulator at the end of July. If you wish
to read some of my journals from that time, go to:
http://imlivingoutloud.blogspot.com/
and click on the month of July. It also has some medical explanations,
photos, and charts.
I had the trial in place from a Friday to a Tuesday.
If you click on the month of August at my blog, you will read more of my
thoughts about getting the device.
Then in September, I had the surgery to implant the device. I've had some
problems, but they are not typical problems, and they could be because I have
mixed connective tissue disease (an autoimmune disorder).
As far as the success of the device: I have about 70% less leg pain and about
40% less back pain. I still need to get the device tweaked to target my
sacroiliac joints and sacrum better.
The best part of getting the device is I'm having less muscle cramps in my
legs and feet. I'm also walking more, and with more speed. And I'm not even 8
weeks post op.
My biggest problems since surgery:
-taking twice as long as normal to charge
-having burning and pain in the pocket where the device is
-having the extension between the two incisions bulge and the skin be
tight/taunt over it, with tight muscles-potentially a too short extension or
they
didn't go deep enough under the skin to tunnel the extension
-mid-back pain
-pain with deep breaths-like when I'm singing, or trying to fill my lungs
-wheezing in sinuses and upper airways
To me-it was still worth it! And I know I will continue to improve the longer
it goes into recovery.
I'd be glad to answer any questions for anyone.

Fw: A WILD FRIDAY NIGHT

It seems like this is becoming Too True!

"A WILD FRIDAY NIGHT AT MY HOUSE"
[INLINE]
HOW TRUE IT IS
Another year has passed
and we all are a little older
Last summer felt hotter
and winter seems much colder.
I rack my brain for happy thoughts,
to put down on my pad,
But lots of things that come to mind
just make me kind of sad.
There was a time not long ago
when life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand
about "Living in the Past."
We used to go to friends homes,
football games and lunches.
Now we go to therapy, hospitals,
and after-funeral brunches.
We used to go out dining,
and couldn't get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags,
come home and take a pill.
We used to often travel
to places near and far.
Now we get backaches
from riding in the car.
We used to go out shopping
for new clothing at the Mall But,
now we never bother...
all the sizes are too small.
That, my friend is how life is,
and now my tale is told.
So, enjoy each day and live it up...
before you're too dadblamed old!!

WHERE DID THE YEARS GO?

Re: Sudan/Jihad/ what can we do?

2008-04-17 11:24:33

Great advice Christy,
As my Preacher says... "If you do the right thing for the right reasons it
will fail if it doesnt have the Lord in it"
I try (and fail a lot I must admit) to remember that. Its so easy to say
"but its the RIGHT thing to do" but remember that the Lord may have a
different right thing for you or a different path to the right thing for
you.

Fw: Try This! An Adventure of a Lifetime!

2008-04-17 08:15:33

YEA! (says it all!)

--
May The Lord Smile Upon You Today!! `;~)

If you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS:
Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.
Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family. Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.
Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc.
Procreate abundantly.
Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive behavior with, "It is a cultural U.S.A. thing. You would not understand, pal."
Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper.
Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise.
Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.
Demand a local Mexican driver license. This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico.
Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws.
Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers.
Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time or soon dead. Because it will never happen! It will not happen in Mexico or any other country in the world except right here in the United States, Land of the naive and stupid, idiotic politically correct politicians.
If you agree, pass it on. If you don't, go ahead and try the above in Mexico!!

Sudan/Jihad/ what can we do?

2008-04-16 22:22:52

Unfortuantely, the best efforts of those who wish to help and intervene may
actually be fueling the war machine. In well-meaning efforts to redeem
slaves...the efforts create a financial gain to the Islamic war machine and
profit the Islamic government. Efforts to provide supplies, food and medical aid
have been intercepted or confiscated more than once or twice. Indeed, there are
even instances where the southern Sudanese have 'acted' the part of slave
redeemer, recieving monies for friends and families that were not enslaved.
There are at least two very valid opposing views of what is right and what is
wrong to do and not to do in this situation. IF we had left them alone, there
is a strong argument that this jihad would have ended long ago, millions of
lives would have been saved. Remember, the government of Sudan APPROVES and
SUPPORTS jihad against the Christian south. Men are murdered, women and
children are considered 'booty'....just like the pigs and cows, they are marched
north to new 'owners'.
We can not tolerate this, as free Americans. BUT....
as wrong as it is to us.....it is 'normal' to their culture. Now, here's the
next problem, do we, as well-meaning citizens of a free country help them? YES!
We cry in our loudest voices. But, HOW? Redeem them? Create a market for
slavery? Hand over thousands of dollars to the Christian enemy, enabling them
to raid, plunder, ransack and destroy another village for more 'booty' because
we 'redeemed' what they currently had? Create opportunites for finacial gain
for other tribes to capture slaves for the sole purpose of 'selling' them to
well meaning buyers.
And what about those that are redeemed? In our country, we are wealthy beyond
even the dreams of these nations, we have freedom, education, health...to us,
what could be worse than being a slave??? BUT....what happens to these people
after they are 'redeemed'? Some are recaptured, some let themselves be
recaptured rather than to face a slow, hard painful death in freedom. Grown men
are rar, most were killed in the inital raid or in battle. Livestock was taken.
Families are torn apart from each other....they don't keep children with their
mothers. Millions of children with no parents, no place to go, no one to help
them...
Many women who are bought have more children when they leave from thier masters.
More mouths to feed, more worries to take care of, more children to watch suffer
and die.. Many die of starvation and stupid simple illnesses due to a lack of
immunization, clean water, warmth....on the surface, it looks a lot like a
lose-lose situation to me. Simple choices are these two.....live as slaves or
die free. All in the name of ALLAH. NOW, aren't you depressed? Feel
helpless? Seems hopeless?
First, remember, that many of the captured slaves from the south are Christians.
It's Holy War, remember? They are God's children and their future is in His
hands. Some of these captured are able to spread the message of Christ to the
Muslims. If we rush right in and 'buy' their freedom, perhaps we are removing
them from where God put them to share the Gospel with one person who's soul will
be saved. God will give them unique opportunities to share. There is no shame
in being a prisoner because of your belief in Jesus Christ. Jesus himself was
persecuted, beaten....Paul spent a great deal of time in chains...the Jews
incarcerated in concentration camps, Christians who helped the Jews, Christians
imprisoned, tortured and burned at the stake by Roman Catholic church... God
was with all them, as He is with these Sudanese Christian slaves. His hand is
upon them.
We can help. First, pray pray and pray for guidance from the Lord. My first
instinct was to rasie all the spare change I could and send it to buy 'freedom'
of one slave! But, after reasearching and praying, the Lord showed me other
ways to make a difference. Many ways actually. Write polite letters of protest
to the ambassdors, presidents and heads of state. KEEP PRAYING!! That HIS will
be done in all things, even this situation. That the slaves will spread the
gospel of Jesus and convert Muslims. THAT ONE IS HUGE! Muslims think they are
right because they do not know the truth. What better way to end this awful
conflict than for them to meet Jesus and have their lives transformed by his
grace and mercy? These slaves have opportunites to reach muslims that no one on
earth could ever have.
I am concetrating my efforts for the South Sudanese where I feel the Lord has
led me. The only way to know what His plans for you are, is to pray and ask for
guidance. I will write, I am prayfully considering sponsoring a Sudanese
pastor, I will work to raise funds to donate to large organizations to help meet
the needs of the free. Drip irrigation systems, seeds, cultivating tools, basic
needs for a family. Bibles, educations, medicines. I will collect blankets to
send. God knows where He wants you, and what He wants you to do..don't do what
you 'think' is the answer, ask Him and He will tell you or show you. (A
personal note, I am not very patient when I wait for His answer, sometimes God
doesn't answer me quickly enough, so I make up my mind on my own...then, I
always have to redo what I did, because it wasn't right.) If we get ahead of His
guidance, we lose an opportunity to do His will that He had planned for us. so,
I urge you to prayfully seek the Lord for direction, in this as in all things.

Re: ThornsonMyRoses Sudan/ Israel leter writing

hmmmmm...for a start, visit my website and visit the charitable causes page and
then go to the Sudan page and there are links on there as well as the charity
page....this links will take you to other sites for more info, addresses, and
ideas on what to write. There is also a list of imprisoned or persecuted who
could use letters of enocuragemnt. I have a letter ready now to be mailed to a
jail in Pakistan. Most cannot read English, so I use a brightly colored
Christian postcard, and wrtie a verse on it, or in mnay cases it has one..then
use the BABYLON translator to translate it into their language (sometimes I am
guessing a t their language, I admit) Then, I put the postcard into a plain
envelope and mail it that way. Use your discretion, or better yet, the
discretion of the Holy Spirit as to put your return address on it or not. I
usually do not to the individuals. It would serve no purpose. In most of the
countries, even if they had a source of income, it might cost them 2 weeks wages
to buy one postal stamp. I sign the card with my first name only. The list is
being updated often, so it is of value to me to visit it monthly at the least.
For the concerns and efforts you would like to put forth for the
Israeli/Palenstinian war......let's do some research and see what kind of
valuable info we can come up with. We can work together and add a page on my
site for Israel too. Much thought and prayer and research must go into it.
Perhaps a page that draws the attention to the children involved. OOOOOOOOHHHHH
ideas are happening! Feel free to email me privately Melanie with any thoughts
on the matter, and let me know of any links or sources of info that are helpful.
I too will keep my eyes open.

Lidocaine patches are wonderful too. I'm glad you found out about
them. They can be lifesavers for the people they work for. The IV
Lidocaine is done in a 6 - 8 hour infusion, once a month. It can
last for a month or 6 months. If it lasted only 6 hours it sounds
like it was a trigger point injection. Was it by IV? and for a 6
hour drip?
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Ruth, I read your post about the IV lidocain infusion and I went to the web
site. I have had
a lidocain infusion before my cortisone injections years ago, and it worked but
just for about
six hours. I am not sure if it is the same kind of infusion and will check on
that soon. BUT my
big news came on the same site where they talked about lidocain patches

US). There are studies that show that these patches can help people with back
pain so I asked
