Re: [lifelineforrsders] Burning Up in Texas

Hi Debbie,

First of all let me say God Bless you and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers all the time.

Are you able to receive mail at all? If you are, I will certainly send you some batteries or other items that you need if I can. Just let me know where to send them.

Anything I can do to help directly I would rather do than just send money to the Red Cross or other organizations.

Please don't be afraid to ask any of us for anything. If there is a way for any of us to help, I am sure all of the other sisters here would help as well.

Love

Dori

An Angel for you

2007-08-31 18:02:33

In honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer. Here is an angel sent to watch over you.

[INLINE]

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck
(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's." More "I'm sorry's."
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it live it and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff.
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.
Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally. I hope you all have a blessed day.
Send this on to all the women you are grateful to have as friends. Maybe we should all grab that purple hat earlier.

Woo Hoo We Have Been Declared A Disaster County

2007-08-31 02:38:19

Today is a good day. I started early as a cool front rolled in and it got rather cool, LOL. I am not complaining bring on the cool I will just shut windows as needed, LOL. It is a whopping 80 outside, much better than 104. There is a breeze and it is cloudy. We thought at like 4 AM it was going to rain but it never did and we had shut many windows. It is still very cloudy out and breezy, actually nice weather finally. I just do not want any rain to make it humid. I finally got a message to our County Emergency Management Office and they called me back to say we finally this morning were declared a disaster County. I am so relieved as I am still on hold as we speak with the Texas Governor's office trying to find out info. been on hold almost an hour. The call came thru to us telling us we are declared a disaster while I have been on hold. I was told to stay on hold and get to them to find out what we need to do to get the FEMA emergency money to sustain life with.
This will be very helpful in buying gas to keep the generator running. Now the hurry up and wait game starts yet again on FEMA. I am able to go online and fill out the disaster application so that helps as you cannot get through on the phone we have tried since last Sat. morning and only get to them via Internet. We also now can get reimbursed at some time for the receipts we kept on buying certain things. You know the Gov., they get around to things when they get to them. So now I shall go to the FEMA website and fill out our application to get the process rolling here. Ooops it is trying to warm up some now much go turn on my fan again LOL. This is day 6 no power, water or working septic. I will go and get free water, ice and boxed food soon. We are in dire need of a bath too. I will check back later to let you know what has happened since now.

Burning Up in Texas

2007-08-30 19:46:24

Update on matters from here in the deep piney woods of East Texas. This is day 5 no power and the heat is unreal. Now it appears we have only enough gas to run the generator until about 4PM tomorrow then we will be out of gas and money to buy more gas. We have bought a total of $370.00 in gas for this Hurricane (before and now after) and we see no end in sight at this time. We are already turning the generator on and off to conserve the gas we have but with the record breaking heat it cannot stay off real long during the day or the food we do have frozen and refrigerated will spoil. The only way to keep from suffering heat stroke is to sit directly in front of a fan and when the generator is off the fan is off also. I do not know what we will do if FEMA and or the Red Cross do not get off their butts and help. I have heard so many horror stories from others while standing in line to get canned drinking water, 1 bag of ice and MRE (meals ready to eat) plus gas. When
they did have gas it was a $20 limit which is only 6.7 gals at $2.99 per gallon. What a nightmare this has been. Mosquitos big enough to carry away a person so can't sit outside unless you are fortunate enough to have had like 30 cans of spray. We had 2 full ones and we now have less than 1/4 of 1 can left. We are supposed to be getting some sort of cool front that will drop the temp about 5 degrees and more at night. I pray it hurries up before we can be poked and checked to see if we are well done yet, LOL They said lows in the upper 60's at night and boy would that be wonderful. Trying to sleep when it is 88 inside it a little unconfortable even with a fan blowing on you. They are also forecasting rain and that will make it like a steam bath and humid then more mosquitos. Can't seem to win for loosing around here. We also are in desperate need of C and D batteries more D than C. There is none to be found anywhere and with gas like it is we cannot venture too
far off until we know what will happen money wise. Due to both the heat and gas situation people are not doing much clean up using chain saws they are waiting for gas to be more available 1st as generators take top gas priority right now. Take care, will update as I can.

One day someone's spouse died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the remaining spouse was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute." Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away never to return before we can say good-bye, say "I love you."

Ooops what happened to Texas? ROFLOL

Now Texas needs some sort of protection as we are absolutely miserable in this heat with no power and only a generator. However, tomorrow we will be flat out of money to buy anymore gas so what we will do then is anybody's guess. FEMA is horrible let me tell you and so is the Red Cross. Do not believe anything you hear on the news as I can tell you 1st hand how it works and it does not work. A couple of mayor's ran Red Cross out of their towns and told the Police to steal the supplies from them to pass out to their town people. Shelters are without power also and no way do I wish to go to one and swelter with 100 others I can do that alone at home. Other shelters are full up or they only let residents of their county in. So nothing much for us to do. You hear how the system, works, well I am here to tell you it does not work and they can blame one another all day long but reality is we are suffering here and are living this nightmare. The Red Cross, FEMA
Politicians, State and Federal all need to suck it up and get to work and stop blaming each other and get us some relief here we need water, ice, food, batteries and gas. Take care and will post more as I can but on generator power hard to say when or if the next time will be. Take care and stay safe

checking in, update, couple of prayer requests

2007-08-29 07:36:19

hello ladies,
sorry I've been so quiet lately. Life kinda exploded all over me like a rotten
egg....... what a visual!!! Imagine if we had cyber-smell.....then I could
really share!! oh that's just gross.....
Anyway, I did try writing to you all yesterday, but Satan kicked me off the
'puter. I know it was Satan..I think he works for Netscape part-time or
something....seems I only get kicked off when I'm about to share a praise report
or something. I'm convinced Satan just loves the internet with all the filth
and smut that is on it.....but once again, our heavenly Father uses it for good.
First, welcome to a few newbies.....feel free to jump right in, but don't feel
obligated. I haven't posted a bible study in a while, I know. Feel free to
rummage through our archives if you wish, I probably won't be posting any until
after our vacation.
To bring everyone up to date......
my grandmother passed away (I think I may have told you that, I can't remember),
we are beginning attachment therapy with our boys. The adoption isn't final
yet....summer vacations seem to be slowing us down a little bit......I think we
are just waiting for a court date now. I really like the new therapist, Rob and
I have met with her 3 times by ourselves, we take the boys each one day a week
when we get back. We have applied for our adoption assistance to be raised
enough to cover the expense....please pray that it is approved, it is $70 per
hour and we are going 2 times a week (one hour session for each boy) She is
supportive of homeschooling, and I really think she's a Christian. I haven't
asked her, but she fully understands that God carries us, and she makes
references to scripture that indicates she believes it. Attachment therapy is
to go back through the boys' lives and fill in the gaps...... so that they can
attach to us and have a healthy life. That's the best way I can explain it I
think. This will be a long tough road, but the destination is well worth the
journey.
Emily (my 10 year old daughter and my best bud ever) came home yesterday after a
2 week vacation with her Papa (my ex) oh am I gald she is back!! It has been an
emotionally raw couple of weeks for me....and I feel like I'm going in circles!
I think I will feel much more settled after our trip. Planes make me a little
nuts...and I am dreading the heat. Please agree with me in prayer that a cold
front should pass through Kansas for the next two weeks!!!! If not, I am
planning on collapsing from heat stroke the moment I leave the airport.
Remember, I live where it never hits above 85 and rarely does it do that. It
hits 70 degrees and everyone in town goes to the mall because it is
air-conditioned!!! (I'm not kidding)
Rob is very excited aobut our trip but a little stressed about money. He
changed jobs and doesn't have any vacation time with pay yet....so, we will
lose 10 days of his income while we are gone. It means a little more careful
budgeting next month...and hubby is kind of a stress biscuit anyway.....I mean
that in the most affectionate way...
Praise report!!!!!!!! Remember the therapy tub I have been praying for? It was
$1500 down and several payments to pay off the other $3000 or so
dollars.....that is an awful lot of money to us, but Rob was planning on working
overtime to get it for me. Our friends are selling us their much bigger hot tub
(with therapy seat) for just the $1500! God told me I was going to get one but
to be patient....I am not very good at that part, but He provided! I will get
it after our trip.
I will be going 'no mail' on Sunday, but if I get access to a computer I will
read posts in the archives. I am also starting a new prayer list in my notebook,
so please email me with your prayer needs so I can add them. We leave Monday the
17th and will be home sometime on the 27th, but don't count on seeing me on-line
right away. I have a feeling it will take a few days to recover adequately!
((((((hugs))))))) to al lof you!

Update From Sweltering Texas

2007-08-28 22:50:47

Update thanks to a generator. We got slapped really hard by Hurricane Rita here in East Texas. We lost power Friday evening and now are bring told it could be a month before it comes back on. No power here also means no water or working septic systems. What a mess and with record breaking heat. We had 2 generators but when we went to load them up with more they went down and then broke when we tried to repair them by flashlight. A dear good friend of mine who lives out of state came to our rescue late Sunday by getting us a generator. However, we are still without water, ice or enough gas to last us. We have tried since Sat. AM to get thru to the Red Cross and FEMA but it is non stop busy so my husband hooked me up to the Internet to email them. It was 102 outside on Monday and 94 inside in front of a fan. Today it will be record breaking heat again. I spoke to one of my state representatives offices yesterday on getting our county declared a disaster also as they
left us and 1 other off and we are hard hit and also will be without power all this time and when you live in the county and are on a water well no power no water that is a disaster. We are trying to get declared a disaster so we can get the money from FEMA and RED Cross hopefully so we can buy gas to run the generator to keep food and fans on. I am trying to find out if there is a shelter we can go take a shower at, so far no good on that. We are OK not hurt but hurting from all the other health problems we both have here and trying to get things up and working when you can barely walk takes a hard toll on your body fast. I even spent the bill money to buy gas for the generator and extras we would need just in case of something like this. Now I have no idea what will happen with no money and not even any more money left on the food stamp card for food. I threw out I bet over 250 lbs of bad food that went bad before we got a working generator. Somehow some way we will
make it but in the mean time we may melt and dehydrate. I did get some water pulled up before the storm but not enough to last a month. We need water, ice, chain saw, C and D batteries and gas. Will update as I can. Take care.

Keep Your Fork

2007-08-28 14:30:52

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things "in order," she contacted her pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.
Everything was in order and the pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. "There's one more thing," she said excitedly.
"What's that?" came the pastor's reply.
"This is very important," the young woman continued.
"I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand."
The pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.
"That surprises you, doesn't it?" the young woman asked.
"Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request," said the pastor.
The young woman explained. "My grandmother once told me this story, and from there on out, I have always done so. I have also, always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement.
'In all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming ... like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!' So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder "What's with the fork?". Then I want you to tell them: "Keep your fork ... the best is yet to come." The pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye.
He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did.
She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.
At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the pretty dress she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the pastor heard the question "What's with the fork?" And over and over he smiled.
During his message, the pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her.
The pastor told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.
He was right.
So the next time you reach down for your fork, let it remind you ever so gently, that the best is yet to come.
Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us.
Show your friends how much you care. Remember to always be there for them, even when you need them more. For you never know when it may be their time to "Keep your fork."
Cherish the time you have, and the memories you share . being friends with someone is not an opportunity but a sweet responsibility.
Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND.
And keep your fork

Hello!

My name is Pam. I have two children, 3 and 1 1/2 (Kathryn and
Kenneth). I have been blessed with finally getting home to raise my
kids, and recently being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Gee, I
wondered why I woke up every morning feeling like I'd been run over
by a truck! I just thought moms with babies felt that way, since the
pain began the day my daughter was born. I hope to be a blessing and
to receive blessings from this group. I'm not sure how God wants me
to deal with this. I've never been tested like this. Chronic pain
is something that's over my head. I pray that His grace will be
sufficiant for me. Right now, I just hurt.

rib pain

2007-08-27 21:39:00

I wouldn't be concerned about your having rib pain. My leads are to stimulate
my lower back area and this is going too far and hitting my ribs, we are going
through a trail and error of reprogramming. Your pain is totally different than
mine as to area and therefore the leads would be placed in a different location,
probably higher. My wires are at the waist and below.

Re: ThornsonMyRoses Digest Number 64

2007-08-27 15:20:18

Dear Karen:
My partner, Barbara and myself, started an indigent drug program with
the help of alot of people. Basically, congress told the drug companies
to hold their costs or they would cap them. They came up with the idea
that if you were under a certain income level, they would send you the
drugs if they were on their program.
Now here is how it works in Coffey County
a. Which medication is it.
b. What company makes it.
c. Get the correct form from the company, fill it out have your Dr. sign
it and send a script with it. This will probably take an office call on
your part to explain this to your dr., unless he is familiar with it.
It's alot of work on the nurses if they fill out the paperwork and the
Dr. if you ask him to do to much. You will have to pick the drugs up at
the Dr.'s office. It usually takes 6 weeks after you order.
Barb. does it now in Coffey County and so far since January she has
saved out folks 163,000 dollars. We have around 110 patients. She
works hard and people call her at all times to put in an order with her
and then she does all the paper work, gets drs. signatures and scripts,
collects the meds and disperses them from our health department.
This has evolved over the last 5 years or so, and it is as smooth as
silk.
If you need help getting started, send me an e-mail and I'll do some leg
work for you. The Dr. is the hinge pin in this program . If he will do
it out of the kindness of his heart(sign all the papers and scrips), you
have it made. If he won't, your sunk. That is you might have to find a
Dr. that will go along with the program. The more work you do, so the
Dr. does not have to lift a finger other than write his name; you got it
made.
Hope I have answered some questions you had. This county is the only
county in the USA that this program work well in, that's because of Barb
and our wonderful doctors that love to help the poor with the
intolerable money they want for medication. Talk to you later Karen. I
am pleased to help you, I do it all in the name of Jesus. He is our
protector and guide and I am sure we will be able to get you some kind
of aid.
PS The form do ask for proof of your income, like last years taxes,
social security 1099. They want to make sure you are poor and do not
have $10,000 sitting in your bank account. They can't get in there and
look they just ask about savings cd's ect. Now it's up to you if you
want to spill your guts or not. Usually $10,000 is their top level but
sometimes we fudge alittle to get our people on, so what if they make
13,14,15, thousands dollars. Gee you are rich? I don't think so. Some
have only $2000 dollars in the bank to bury them, if you put that down,
they will refuse to help you. So let common sense be your guide. Don't
lie, but don't tell them every dot and jittle that is for your health on
down the line. You are still within the frame work of being hard up.
See ya!
Peace,
Linda Rice

I just Talked To Debbie

2007-08-27 14:16:24

Debbie and Mike are safe and sound, tired and HOT, did I say HOT. They
are home, the generators X2 both went out during the storm. Debbie said
she has never been as scared in all her life. Tree's are all over the
place, they fixed 1 generator but they have No water. I told Debbie we
were all worried about her and Mike, the dogs too. They have lost much
of the food in the freezer, but will be able to save some. I will call
her back tomorrow and give you guys another update. Her pain , Mike's
too is out of this world. Huggs, Lynda

Hurricane Rita Hit Us Hard

2007-08-27 14:06:46

Just a fast note as I am on a back up generator that we finally got thanks to a sweet and dear angel that I know. We had 2 generators and they both broke and as we stayed yup all night Friday night with the house literally moving on the foundation and we could see cracks appearing in the walls. Where I live looks as if a bomb exploded here. We are being told it will be about a month before we get power back. We lost a whole lot of food in the freezer and refrigerators and no more money on the Lone Star (food stamp) card to get more until Oct. 7th. Our next feat is gas to run this generator as there is no way on this earth we will have the money to buy the gas for even a full week let alone a month. I spent all the money we had to prepare for this Hurricane, so hopefully the electric bill will not cause them to come out and turn off my power ROFLOL. We do have a working phone though so if you have my number please feel free to call. If we are outside or gone there is
no answering machine so please bare with me here. Wouldn't you know it we are getting record breaking heat now. Sunday it was 104 here real temp. Today will be about the same and I am sweltering or is that roasting? Just poke me when I am done, LOL. Our neighbors got a huge generator this morning and Mike of over there helping them hook it up and they are rigging their well pump as it is a small motor to be able to get water off the well. Water, Ice what are those things? I am fast working hard to try to get my county declared a disaster as they left us off and declared all the rest next to us. However we are on the county line and the Lake Livingston Dam sustained damage so they had to mandatory evacuate on Sat. over 250 people so they could open the flood gates to keep the dam from breaking. We are talking about a very huge lake here and it would most likely also wipe me out of it broke. So as are you are sitting in there A/C , house think of me here and send my
your cool thoughts LOL. I will get back as I can but please do not continually email me back. You can respond to this if you like then wait for my next email before emailing me again. Also pass the word to others to not email me for now or soon my email will overflow and AOL will stop all incoming. We have out emails to our State Officials so I need to be sure I keep this open enough to get their responses. Take care and hope to be back real soon.

Stressed Co-Worker

2007-08-26 17:18:10

Subject: FW: Stressed Co-Worker

This is funny.

I urgently needed a few days off work, but I knew the Boss would not allow
me to take a leave.

I thought that maybe if I acted "CRAZY" then he would tell me to take a
few days off.

So I hung upside down on the ceiling and made
funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me what I was doing?

I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb so that the Boss would
think I was "CRAZY" and give me a few days off.

A few minutes later the Boss came into the office and asked "What are you
doing ?"

I told him I was a light bulb. He said "You are clearly stressed out. Go
home and recuperate for a couple of days".

I jumped down and walked out of the office.

When my co-worker (the blonde) followed me, the Boss asked her " ...And
where do you think you're going?"

( You're gonna love this..... )

She said, "I'm going home too, I can't work in the dark!!"

Re: [Stimulator] limiting activities

2007-08-26 06:10:55

Hi Mary-Anne,
I can only tell you of my experience and those that I have spoken with and I
have never been told to limit bending or leaning over. In fact I've been
encouraged to do just that with stretching. For the first 6 weeks post op I was
told not to bend but after that I was given full release to do anything within
reason, using common sense and listen to my body.
I asked my surgeon and another doctor about it after your email and they both
said no reason not to bend. I'll also check with medtronics rep here. I'll let
you know the response.
Take care,
Jeff

THE MOMMY TEST

limiting activities

2007-08-25 10:02:52

I discussed this limited activity with the other Medronics rep. He
said some doctors limit you from leaning or bending over, reaching up
high and such. He said other docs say you can carefully do a limited
amount of bending over but not for a while. I am at 7 weeks post op.
The Medronix rep says if you over do it you can pull the wires/leads
and you'd have to go in again and have the wires replaced.
Also learned Medronix has a new 9 year battery. However, most
insurance companies will only approve the 18 month battery for the
first time. Then when they go back in (make incision again)and
replace te battery they usually approve the longer life one.
Hopefully by the timme I'll need the replacement battery they will
have developed the adaptors so I don't have to have the lead wires
replaced as well.
Had another adjustment/reprogramming (#6) and my ribs are still
hurting so bad. Have any of you expierenced this? They told me it is
common, but ouch!

Child's Bill of Rights

2007-08-24 10:01:27

Subject: Child's Bill of Rights...
Child's Bill of Rights
My son came home from school one day,
with a silly grin on his face,
He thought he was smarter than me, his Mom,
and could put me in my place.
HE SAID:
Guess what I learned in Civics Two,
that's taught by Mr. Wright,
It's about the laws of the land today,
its called THE CHILDREN'S BILL OF RIGHTS.
IT SAID:
I don't have to clean my room,
I don't have to cut my hair.
Nobody can tell me what to eat,
or choose the clothes I wear.
My freedom of speech is guaranteed.
Its my choice of what I read, or watch on TV.
I have freedom of religion,
and regardless of what you say,
I don't have to ask your God for help---I don't have to pray.
I can wear an earring in my ear,
And, if I want, can pierce my nose.
It's my choice if I so desire,
to tattoo Satan's numbers across my toes.
AND if you try to spank me,
I will charge you with the crime,
and I can back up all my charges,
with the marks on my behind.
HE SAID:
Don't ever touch me,
this body is only for my use,
not for your hugs and kisses and stuff,
that's just another form of child abuse.
HE CONTINUED WITH:
Don't fill my head with morals,
like your mama did to you,
That's what's called mind control,
And it's illegal too!
Mom, I have these children's rights,
you can't do a thing to me,
I can call children's services,
better known as C. S. D.
MY TURN!!!!
My very first impression was,
to toss this boy out the door,
But here was a chance to teach him a lesson,
for once and ever more.
I took my time and mulled it over,
I couldn't let this go.
This kid of mine didn't realize,
that he was messing with a pro!
AND AWAY WE GO.............
The next day we went shopping,
and in spite of every plea,
I didn't buy him 501s
or shirts designed by Nike.
I had called and talked to C. S. D.,
they said they didn't care,
if I bought him Volume shoes,
or a pair of Nike Airs.
AND THEN:
I canceled his appointment
to test his driving skills,
I'd probably be dead by now,
if only looks could kill!
I SAID:
No time to stop and eat,
or pick up stuff to munch,
I think you should follow C. S. D.'s advice,
And make yourself a sack lunch.
So, that you're not hungry,
that you can wait til dinner time?
Well, we're having liver and onions,
Cause it's a favorite dish of mine.
Can we stop to get a movie,
so you can watch on the VCR?
Gosh no! I sold the TV in your room
and bought new tires for my car.
I also rented out your room,
you really don't need a bed.
C.S.D. says all that's required of me
is to put a roof over your head.
I only have to buy your clothes,
and the food that you must eat,
The money you used to get for an allowance,
will buy me something neat.
No more eating after we shop,
no more joking along the way,
I too have a BILL OF RIGHTS,
that goes into effect today!
What's the matter, are you crying?
Are you down on your knees?
Why are you asking God for help?.........................
Why not call C.S.D.?

Update From Houston Area

2007-08-24 02:25:57

As the Hurricane draws nearer and nearer we sit and are glued to the weather watching it's every wobble trying to figure out where it will make landfall. Houston is all news 24/7 now and will be until this passes. That is our local news and the city we are closest to. However, we are north some and east some of Houston and we are now under a Hurricane Warning for our county. We gave a lot of thought to evacuating but after the night mare yesterday and seeing those poor people stranded out of gas in bumper to bumper traffic moving at best 5-10 mph we said no way the car would not make it. We are hunkered down and are going to ride this monster out. Having been born and raised in Houston and been through many many Hurricanes in my years I know well what we are in for here. We are not alone back here in the woods though. We passed out several personal 2 way radios to 4 other sets of neighbors and we all plan to stay in touch and if need be we will head to the brick
house or the culverts one. We have 3 sets of us in mobile homes and 1 in a brick home. I am not near as worried about my house since it was custom built for a way higher wind zone than we have around here it is for Florida. We are sitting on a 8" thick full concrete slab and the house is tied down by metal anchors that pass all the way through the slab to under the slab then these metal straps go up and over the house under the roof from side to side and end to end every 4 ft. The roof we had built for a heavy wet snow loading just due to the being in the trees. We have 2 generators, 30 gals. of extra gas, to run them and they will run the refrigerator, freezer TV with satellite, fans, lamps, and a window a/c unit plus some. I can cook even in the microwave but we have 4 tanks of propane for the gas grill full and they also hook up to the Coleman stove. So far we have 150 gals. of water and are going in AM to get more. We should be ok we pray. I went to our little
town today only 15 miles away and Population of 600. It took me 5 hours round trip due to all the people trying to get off the highways out of Houston. This further enforced my decision to stay put. Just please keep your eyes on Houston and pray for me and Mike as we ride Rita out here at home with our 3 dogs.

Sandy, how bad is your diabetes?? Can you control it with diet and exercise? My doc told me to exercise so I got Pitates for Dummies. I'm not going to hurt myself, is he CRAZY? I just tore the hell out of my knee, hellooo, he wants me to exercise. LOL. Or will you have to take medications? Let us know all about it. This is a scary blow for you, I know. Diabetes is a scary disease because it affects every organ in your body. Listen very carefully to your doc and take it very seriously. Diabetes can lead to kidney failure, blindness and amputation. Please, do what your doc tells you to do. So many do not take it seriously. Promise me you will. If you need my help, just let me know. ok? How is everybody else doing? TY, Sheree I got your book and CD. I will try to get your CD back in a few weeks, OK? I've just been worthless with my knee hurting and have gotten so far behind on everything, I'm sure you understand. Lynn, I am soo happy you are back, you scared the sh*t out of

New to group.. Considering SCS.

2007-08-22 15:53:13

Hi.My name is J. I'm a 25y/o female with chronic back pain for 7
years.Had a
Lami(7/2000), so many epidurals(sp), pain blocks, and facet injections
that I can not find a neuro or pain spec. to put a needle in my back
anymore. My new pain spec. has been very gun-ho on the sps. I have
only been seeing this new doc since Feb., but have already lowered my
dose of oxycontin as well as the other drugs I had to take to counter
act the oxy.
I have two weeks before going back to see Dr. B and am not sold on the
SCS. I am on disability, having not found anything that gives enough
relief to allow me to come close enough to go back to work.
If anyone has any thoughts for or against SCS I would love to hear
them.
I guess the questions that Im really lingering on is if the SPS limits
activities,(such as sitting/standing/laying/ect.. for a long amount of
time? I guess really how you like/dislike your SPS.
Thanks,
J

Re: [lifelineforrsders] Debbie and Mike, have you left yet for the shelter? I...

2007-08-22 05:15:45

Well, guess what you are now getting an answer. We left here at 10AM today to go to 2 Dr's appts. We could not get off the highway heading south in Houston and be able to get back on so I missed the Ortho Dr. and went to get my med refills from the Pain Dr. The traffic out of Houston is unreal. The car started over heating so this made it way more fun. I just walked in the door at 9 PM and only where people were fighting over the last 5 gal. water jugs literally. Then on to the store to get meds refilled then home. We did stop almost home and get gas and ice but that is all for my day and I am wiped out tired. We are going to wait until Friday morning before we make the call to evacuate or not. I have been through so many of these even big bad ones in the past and no way will I put my life in jeopardy. If need be we may evacuate to Tennessee. There is absolutely no place ion Texas that I know of on my side of the state that has open hotel rooms let alone shelters
where you can have 3 dogs. I have a good friend in TM who is more than happy to have us there. Her Mom passed away in 2001 and the family farm house is vacant on 800 acres so we can stay there with all the dogs. Better yet her hubby is an Atty. and he also does Work Comp. So if I need one to get meds I can get him to help me. The Pharmacy gave me a print out of all my med info and work comp info that can be used at any Pharmacy in the US for the non class II drugs. My Pharmacists I have used over 20 yrs now and when I picked up my Demerol she says to me if I do not see you again it has been great knowing you. All the Houston TV stations are 24/7 news now with info. They say this may be 10 times bigger than Katrina with way more damage. I sure pray not, but when you talk about 165 mph winds and a record low pressure reading of 896 mb you have a history making Hurricane. I will keep you posted to let you know what we do before we go. I have already pre made up an
email and put it in my waiting to be sent so all I have to do fill in the blanks. I pray that I will be back to my home again and that you are all safe as well. Please keep Mike and I and our 3 dogs, Bradley, Forrest and Harley in all of your prayers.

Debbie

Give Me The 21st Century Woman

2007-08-21 23:06:12

GIVE ME THE 21ST CENTURY WOMAN!!!!
What a difference 40 years can make! The following is from an actual
1950's Home Economics textbook intended for High School girls, teaching
them how to prepare for married life.
1. HAVE DINNER READY: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a
delicious meal - on time. This is a way of letting him know that you
have been thinking about him, and are concerned about his needs. Most
men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal are
part of the warm welcome needed.
2. PREPARE YOURSELF: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be
refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your
hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary
people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day
may need a lift.
3. CLEAR AWAY CLUTTER. Make one last trip through the main part of
the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books,
toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband
will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you
a lift too.
4. PREPARE THE CHILDREN. Take a few minutes to wash the children's
hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary,
change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see
them playing the part.
5. MINIMIZE THE NOISE: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all
noise of washer, dryer, or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be
quiet. Greet him with a warm smile and kiss, letting him know you're
glad to see him.
6. Some Don'ts: Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't
complain if he's late for dinner. Count this as minor compared with what
he might have gone through that day.
7. MAKE HIM COMFORTABLE. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair
or suggest he lay down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready
for him.
Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a
low, soft, soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.
8. LISTEN TO HIM: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the
moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.
9. MAKE THE EVENING HIS: Never complain if he does not take you out
to dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead try to understand
his world of strain and pressure and his need to be home and relax.
10. THE GOAL: try to make your home a place of peace and order where
your husband can relax.
**********************************************
*******************
WELCOME TO 2000!
1. HAVE DINNER READY: Make reservations ahead of time. If your day
becomes too hectic just leave him a voice mail message regarding where
you'd like to eat and at what time. This lets him know that your day has
been crappy and gives him an opportunity to change your mood.
2. PREPARE YOURSELF: Make sure to change out of your work clothes
into something comfortable. Who cares if he likes it or not . . . after
all, it's most likely his T-shirt and boxers.
3. CLEAR AWAY CLUTTER: Yeah right! Tell the kids and your husband if
they want maid service, they better call one!
4. PREPARE THE CHILDREN: Send the children to their rooms to watch
television or play Nintendo.
5. MINIMIZE THE NOISE: Yell to him over the loud music your kids are
playing, that this is what you had to put up with while he was gone. And
mention that it was his decision to buy the kids a new CD player in the
first place.
6. SOME Don'ts: Don't greet him with problems and complaints. Let
him speak first, and then your complaints will get more attention and
remain fresh in his mind throughout dinner. Don't complain if he's late
for dinner, simply remind him that the leftovers are in the fridge and
you left the dishes for him to do.
7. MAKE HIM COMFORTABLE: Tell him where he can find a blanket if
he's cold. This will really show you care.
8. LISTEN TO HIM: But don't ever let him get the last word.
9. MAKE THE EVENING HIS: Never complain if he does not take you out
to dinner or other places of entertainment; go with a friend or go
shopping (use his credit card). Familiarize him with the phrase "Girls'
Night Out!"
10. THE GOAL: Try to keep things amicable without reminding him that
he only think

Debbie and Mike, have you left yet for the shelter? I certainly do hope so.

2007-08-21 19:54:23

This is getting very serious now. Time to take precuations. Get out og
there now. Get the dogs and just go. Now. I hope I don't get an answer

Mike the dogs and all. I pray you are safe my friend. Please be safe.

I just found out that my boyfriends mother passed away. I have no one
to take me and I will have to attend the wake and the funeral this
week. Now after lowering my dosage of Methadone so I would be in pain
for the trial, I have to wait 2 days for it to get to where it was
functioning at a good level again. Oh Well. The jewish holiday Passover
is this Saturday night anyway and would not be a good time for me to be
in bed due to incisional pain. The whole plan was doomed from the
beginning. I will write more later. Karel

I bet a few of you were wondering there for a day or so..weren't ya? :-)
I haven't been on-line very much lately. I am not feeling very well at all. I
did finally sleep half-way decent last night, so I am hoping today will be
different. Haven't been doing much of anything. My grandmother passed away on
Friday. I spent hours and hours trying to figure out daycare here, so I could
go to the service, which I didn't want to go to anyway (and felt guilty about).
In a nut shell, my grandmother was 90, had lived a long life (outlived 4 of her
9 children). I hadn't seen her since at least Dec. '98. Then she moved to
Oregon to be with a couple of her sons and families as she couldn't live alone
anymore. I loved my grandmother very much, and am very much like her. (BTW,
she never felt well and ached everywhere and always extremely tired.....sounds a
lot like undiagnossed FMS to me) She won't know that I am not there, and well,
it is my mothers family I would like to avaoid if at all possible..and the fact
that the service is being held graveside, right next to my grandfathers grave.
That gives me the heeby jeebies for persoanl reasons I won't bore you with, but
many of you can guess I am sure. Why is it when someone passes on, it drags up
soooo much feeling from your childhood? I have been having lots of nightmares
when I can sleep.
I am very tired and have been battling a rotten headache and various flu like
symptoms.....worse than usual, but I don't think I can call it a flare. I just
feel like roadkill at the moment. :-)
I have been reading the prayer requests and praying for each of you. Oh, Karen,
what a sticky situation. I think you just ought to be firm with him. You
cannot take care of him. Charge him something for room and board......even if
it is $100 worth of groceries. Treat him like a roomie, not a guest. If he
balks at that, than he wanted to take advantage of your generosity and kindness.
You are not his mommy.....you have your hands full being mommy to your girls.
Pray about it though, as in all things, before speaking. So that the love of
Jesus will come out instead of the resentment of a busy woman with many
responsibilities and a tight budget. (sounds kinda like me ......hmmmmm.)
Jayne..oh I am praying that the pump can be adjusted satisfactorily. You have
had a tough couple of weeks!!!!!
Chris so glad you are getting up and around, even if it is with a walker..that's
progress!!! Is the old pain gone?
Karnation, how are you doing? Is the pain diminshing at all now? Be prepared
for some upcoming hormone flucuations as they try different dosages of hormones
to find the right ones. It took several months for me, but I'm kinda
weird.....so I pray it will be accurate the first time!!!
Diane, your son is in our prayers!!!! Poor sick kiddo!
Is he on anti-biotics? (You mentioned a strep infection....is that right?)
Lots of love, and liquids. He is 6 years old, is that right? ((((((baby))))))))
Sheila, welcome home! I have missed chatting with you at night, but the few
times I have been on I didn't see you anywhere.....:-(
I miss chatting with all of you!
I wanted to pass a long a URL for chat...it is for FibroHugs. It is not
Christian per sey, but there are lots of us who are, and we sometimes go into a
different discussion room so that we can talk about our illness from a christian
perspective....(without getting kicked out) We can look for each other by our
usernames..so I thought it would be good to tell what username we use, so we
know who to look for......
for instance, I am 'Ouchiemama'.
It is real easy to get into the room, and you can register your username so that
no one else can use it.If you bookmark the sign in page, than it should bring up
your registered username automatically.
Then, just click on one the room names. There is Discussion 1, sometimes
discussion two, and FUN. It's a great room, and there is always (I think)
someone in there. Great for the desperate lonely miserable hours when everyone
else in your house is sleeping peacefully. So, look for Ouchiemama......that's
me...
and perhaps the other that visit there can share their
usernames as well.

Hi,
I think the best advise is just try and relax and don't put too much pressure on
yourself. Everyone has a different experience so what happened during my trial (
it was great) may not happen for you.
As far as feeling like a burden, yes for all the years I wasn't able to do
anything constructive that's exactly how I felt and now since the implant I feel
completely different and look forward to each day!
Good luck,

Dear Sisters in Christ, please pray for my six year old son,
Zachary. He has been very ill and lethargic for the past 24 hours.
He has as systemic strept infection and is experiencing high fevers
with chills, nasuea, vomiting, and bad headaches. My poor little guy
feels so terrible and I feel so helpless. Thanks for your prayers.

Re: Hello everyone.

2007-08-19 08:38:51

I do!
Now that I have the permanent spinal stimulator in place I was very
disappointed to find out I'll never be able to pick up anything on the
floor or the ground as you can't lean over! I had no idea that I'd
have this limitation.
So now my husband must load and unload the bottom rack on the
dishwasher, turn on and off the garden hose-pick up the hose nozzle
from the ground and hand to me, put the clothes in and out of the
dryer, feed the dogs and give them fresh water, and so on.
Before my back injury I had a very successful career-designing and
sourcing home and garden items all over the world. Now I am lucky to
drive for 10 minutes. I was very independant and did everything
myself including gardening, carrying my luggage, you know normal
everyday stuff.
Going again today for another reprogramming, this is the 6th time,
hope they get it correct as my ribs are so dang sore. This didn't
happen with the temporary inplant.

Darn Weatherbug Alarms

2007-08-18 20:24:24

Well, as you can see I am up thanks to the weatherbug alarms going off almost non stop. They are set for Hurricane advisories and when the one came in at 4 Am our time it went on and on like the energizer bunny. So up we get turn on TV and damn if they are not evacuating all over the place. Here it is 5 AM and Home Depot looks like it is 8 AM as it is not only open it is crowded. The grocery stores that are open like 24 hour Walmart's are packed every thing is packed that is open and selling out of non perishable foods, batteries, plywood and more. We are now paying very close attention to this Hurricane since it is now 120 mph winds and they forecast over 100 mph winds well beyond us. There is no way on this earth my house will survive winds like that even though it was custom built to with stand winds in Florida such as Hurricane winds. I know I am not willing to chance it, but Mike is. He is saying we cannot just abandoned the place. I am saying you want to stay
here and get killed go ahead. He says what is going to kill me and I say oh a tree falling on the house, tornados who knows something. With winds like that everything not fastened down outside becomes missile like objects in the air. Poor Poor Harley he has severe anxiety attacks in a thunder or plain rain storm this I will have to literally zone the poor dog out to keep him from having a heart attack. Envision this a Dodge Neon (old one at that no A/C, blowing oil) 3 dogs (1 Rott and 2 weighing 70 lbs each) and 2 adults in this car that the back seat does not fold down but it is a 4 door, LOL. Oh this should be an adventure. No where to go just keep on driving is all we can do. Got the digital camera batteries all charged up and plenty of floppy's to record on. Now to go to the store to get bread and lunchmeat, ice and what ever I can drink wise. The news weather predictions are this will turn into a Cat. 5 Hurricane and could get up to as much as 160 or so mph
winds. It appears to be heading to just west of Galveston which is bad bad as that puts Galveston into the dirty side of the storm and the huge storm surge that will push up all the way into the Houston ship channel. The flooding will be great. I pray Leta (LWrightT) gets the heck out of dodge since she lives in Galveston 2 blks. off the sea wall. All the hotels and rental cars are gone even the U-hauls all rented out. They are telling people once you et on the highway expect to go all the way north before you can get back off again. They are putting them even north of where I am and I am an hour drive from the North side of Houston even. However, the way the crow flies I am only 60 miles from the coast and 40 from the Bay (to the east of Galveston). If you do not hear from me soon know I have left or hunkered down one. A 2 am Sat. land fall will put us into bad weather rain wise starting late Thursday night. I have to at least go pick up my med refills and may
have to cancel the Ortho. Appt. until this thing passes. I know he will not be happy about that with the way my knee is looking. I am wondering how bad this low pressure is going to make the pain go up. Anyway I am back to bed for a bit before I get back up to go to Dr. and into Houston then back north with the rest of Texas.

Hello everyone.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have not posted in awhile. This
coming Wednesday I'm having the trial surgery. If anyone can give me
advice as to what to expect it would be greatly appreacheated (sp).
Also if anyone has any clue what to do in the meantime. It's just
that the nerve pain has gotten so bad and, of course with no sleep
things are extra bad. Also does anyone ever feel like they are a
burden on any or everyone.
Thanks so much.
If everyone could keep me in their prayers for Wednesday I would
geatly appreacheated (sp)(again).

HELP

2007-08-18 03:54:41

Sandy,

Sorry to hear about the Diabetes. My husband is a Diabetic. Unfortunately it appears we will have to evacuate from here due to Hurricane Rita. Not sure where the heck we will go with 3 dogs but this Rita is now a Cat. 2 with 110 mph winds but it is expected to be a Cat. 3 in a few hours. The predictions for a Galveston, TX hit are too many to chance it. They are telling us here in the Houston news this may be the biggest storm to ever hit the US in over 100 yrs. They say this will be a Cat. 5 when it makes landfall but with the strongest winds ever. I shall wait and see myself as they never do completely as they predict. They say that Hurricane force winds may be felt as far inland as Dallas (260 miles). I live in a mobile home and am only 65 miles as the crow flies inland. Our biggest problem here is where to go with all the Katrina evacuees over here and all around in hotels and stuff there are no vacancies left. Our car is not in good shape and the A/C does not
work plus you have to remember this is a 1996 Neon that used to belong to our youngest daughter, so well abused in the past. They are already evacuating Galveston, TX (Vol. but tomorrow will be mandatory). There seems to be nothing but news on now out of Houston. They even have the roads all marked and telling people how far to drive at least as a minimum, and that is well past me. I remember being in Hurricane Carla when I was a child and that was a strong one. I am too old for all of this now but looks like I have no say in this matter, LOL. I have 2 Dr appts today (pain Mgmt. and Ortho.) then not sure what to do next. I fell on Monday am getting out of bed and tore up something inside the left knee so it is swollen like a basketball now. I am not looking forward to these Dr. appts either as I know the Ortho will want to do surgery right away. Then they both are wanting the Myelogram still ASAP and bone biopsies and more and I am just not up to all of this right
now. It will be Friday before my child support check has the funds available and by that time it will be too late to do much. It is direct deposited and it shows to have been wired but it takes 2 days for funds to be available so I am stuck big time. I am just not sure what we are going to do here as it is very hard to do anything when you have only $26 and you must drive. I know I will stop and wash clothes at least and buy ice plus go and get water and fill up everything we can around here just in case we end up staying. We do not flood here or it never has right here but we have ended up being on an island in the past. When Tropical Storm Allison hit a few yrs back and dumped 45 inches of rain on Houston we got 14 overnight and we were OK just could not drive anywhere on the dirt roads or you got stuck. Our biggest problem here is trees since we live in the heavy woods. We have 2 generators also and a few camp stoves and lanterns, flashlights and all just not
enough shelf foods for a week, so I will need to get some of that too. I told hubby we need to air up the air mattresses to float on if it does get flooded. The house sits way way up as we had it put on a full concrete slab, so it sits up about 4 ft. so I am not worried about it as I am the roads and car. Hubby said if we end up staying we will drive the car up on the extra slab we have here and that will put it up higher so hopefully it will not get water in it. Now if we can get this to come in daylight so we can see what is flying when the power goes off. I shall keep all posted on this as we learn more. Pray Pray Pray this looks like it may surpass Katrina and it is heading my way.

dose of the methadone to have pain. I see the pain doc tomorrow and
will find out how to do this. So its not gonna be a wk. for the trial

Re: free meds?

Check with your local hospitals, they have to write off a certian amount of
care each year to get tax breaks they need and so they usually have some kind
of program. Ours here is called Community Care and thats what we are on,
they evaluate your income and family size and give you a percentage of your
bill off according to that. We get full coverage because we are poor : )
Just call the billing depts and ask if they have some kind of program similar
to ours, it must be fairly common since all 3 hospitals in Green Bay have it.
Ours also covers all facilities and doctors that are affiliated with the
hospital so it covers our lab work, doctor visits etc...
Hope this helps, I know it was a lifesaver for us when we found out about it
and we had no insurance.

SF area docs

2007-08-16 12:51:27

Daniel
I am in Alamo not too far from you.. There are excellent doctors in SF who
perform this procedure. I see my doctor in Concord which is just over off of
Hwy 4 from you. I had the inplant done 6 weeks ago and am doing great. They
are going to reprogram my unit again as it stimulates my ribs on high!
I thought the doctor requested of your Worker's Comp Insurance for approval.
Mine did and it took 2 weeks for approval and he then did the surgery-first the
trail and 2 weeks latter the permanent. He wants you to have at least a week
trail to make sure it is working.
His name is Dr. Elliot S. Krames. He is Medical Director of Pacific Pain
Treatment Center. Diplomate American Board of Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine
Diplomate, American Board of Pain Medicine Fellow, and American Nueromodulation
Society.
Doctors (IE Fellow) from all over the US come to study with him.
They had given up on me after 5 years of nothing helping IDET, etc. I started
with him and they also tried a few other things and medication which didn't work
or I had adverse reactions. This is when they suggest the spinal stimulator
when nothing else works.
Good luck
Mary-Anne
We aren't at the point of getting a doctor to do an implant for my wife yet due
to Worker's Compensation not yet authorizing the procedure but I don't think
there will be any problem finding a doctor to do the surgery. We're in Tracy
California which is in the North Central part of the state an hour or so from
San Francisco and Oakland and 4.5 hours from LA. More than likely we'll have a
surgeon from Modesto (which is 45 minutes away and where her Pain Management
doctor practices) do the procedure.
I don't know where you are from in Massachuesettes but am wondering what the
density of the population is where you live. I'm guessing that the reason for
the scarcity of surgeons who do the implants in your area, has to do with the
density of population. Having never lived in Massachuesettes (don't even know if
I'm spelling it correctly) I don't know the population stats of the state let
alone those of the major metropolitan centers. However, being an outsider, I
would expect Boston would be my first choice of cities to look for a surgeon.
I can understand your concern however, especially since it's coming after your
initial surgeon closed his practice and moved out of state.
As far as the procedure goes I have heard there have been a lot of great
results. Unfortunately, for the most part, those who have had a positive result
do not get on the message boards.
You have a great day as well and I wish you luck.

I can see why your Mayor wants to move the evacuees out as they maybe in danget there as well. Its hard on everyone involved. I know someone that needs help and can't find any as everything has gone to Katrina victims.

Busy Busy Busy

2007-08-14 13:25:40

Wednesday will be a very busy day for me. I go to Pain Dr. then to Ortho. Dr. all in the same day. Pain Dr. is refilling meds, early due to possible Hurricane Rita hitting Texas. Ortho. called me Monday to say he needed to see me back in again since we still have yet to get approval on bone biopsies and he thinks I have loose something in my knee and then the nurse said he wants to now discuss the total knee replacements as well. She asked me about the Myelogram and said that he may just get it done when he gets me into hospital to get these knee surgeries all done. Her exact words were he may park you there again like he did in 2001 for 19 days to get the attention of the Ins. CO. I told her no way I cannot be in that long right now too much going on here at home. SO I guess tomorrow I find out what the heck is going on with these Dr.'s and see what they are wanting to do since the Ins. Co. is being such buttheads and denying approval on things. I know my Ortho. he
knows ways around denials so I am preparing myself for whatever his out there game plan may be. In the meantime we have all eyes on the weather here. Get this the Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Houston are mad as hell saying Houston is just trying to get rid of them by flying them to Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas. Houston Mayor said he needed to get them taken care of 1st so he could then focus on the people of Houston and if this Hurricane hit here the winds all the way where I am are expected to be at least 100 mph. Therefore we are trying to batten down loose objects outside and prepare. I am now filling up bath tubs full of clean water we are hauling from the neighbors house and also 55 gal. plastic barrels, just in case. Our worse problem would be due to downed trees thus causing a power outage. Mike is outside now working on the generator just in case. Tomorrow when we go into Houston we will take the propane tank to get refilled as it will last over a 6 weeks to cook
on. Just what we do not need right now is a Hurricane. Take care and I shall keep you posted.

Let It Go

A very special friend of mine who I love dearly sent me this today. I hear the message loud and clear and found it to be so moving that I wanted to share it. Please take a moment to read this. It spoke to me very loud and clearly and I hope you find comfort in it as well.

Let It Go In 2005

There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk
away from you: let them walk.
I don't want you to try to talk another person into
staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to
see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.
When people can walk away from you let them walk.
Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.
The bible said that, they came out from us
that it might be made manifest that they were not for
us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have
continued with us. [1 John 2:19]
People leave you because they are not joined to you.
And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.
Let them go.
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just
means that their part in the story is over. And you've got
to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep
trying to raise the dead.
You've got to know when it's dead.
You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you
something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I
believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm
faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me.
And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.
Let them go!!
If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong
to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ......
LET IT GO!!!
If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and
see your worth.....
LET IT GO!!!
If someone has angered you ........
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents .
LET IT GO!!!
If you! u have a bad attitude.......
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better......
LET IT GO!!!
If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take
you to a new level in Him......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are struggling with the healing of a broken
relationship.......
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try
to help themselves......
LET IT GO!!!
If you're feeling depressed and stressed .........
LET IT GO!!!
If there is a particular situation that you are so
used to handling yourself
and God is saying "take your hands off of it,"
then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!
Let the past be the past. Forget the former things.
GOD is doing a new thing for 2005!!!
LET IT GO!!!
Get Right or Get Left
.. think about it, and then ..
LET IT GO!!!
"The Battle is the Lord's!"
During the next 60 seconds, Stop whatever you are
doing, and take this opportunity. (Literally it is only ONE minute!)
All you have to do is the following:
You simply say "The Lords Prayer" for the person that
sent you this message:
The Lords Prayer
Our Father, who are in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom
Come, Thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but
deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the
Glory, forever.
Amen.
Next, send this message to everyone you know. In a
while, more people will have prayed for you and you would have
obtained a lot of people praying for others!
Next, stop and think and appreciate God's power in
your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to Him.
If you are not ashamed to do this,
follow the instructions!
Jesus said,
If you are ashamed of me,
I will be ashamed of you
before My Father"
If you are not ashamed, send this message...
only if you believe.
"Yes, I love my God. He is my fountain of
Life and My Savior.
He Keeps me going day and night.
Without Him, I am no one.
But with Him, I can do
everything, Christ is my strength."
This is a simple test.
If you love God and you are not ashamed of all the
great things that
He has done for you, send this to everyone you know,
and the person that
sent it to you!
God loves you and watches over you everyday.

free meds?

2007-08-13 20:00:16

I can't seem to track down the post someone sent about how to get meds when you have no insurance etc.

A friend is staying with us and is in need of a doctor and probably antidepressants. Please resend the info asap and any other someone might have to share about how to help someone with this kinda thing. If there is some kind of program to help get medical care/counseling etc He has no job right now, no money, nothing, really. and we can't afford more than we're doing right now.

thank you

When I Take My Final Breath

2007-08-12 16:03:17

Praise Jesus !! Jesus Loves You!!
When my life has reached its very end, And I take that final
breath;
I want to know I've left behind,
Some "good" before my death.
I hope that in my final hour,
In all honesty I can say:
That somewhere in my lifetime,
I have brightened someone's day.
That maybe I have brought a smile
To someone else's face,
And made one moment a little sweeter
While they dwelled here in this place.
Lord, please be my reminder
And whisper softly in my ear ...
To be a "giver," not a "taker,"
In the years I have left here.
Give to me the strength I need,
Open up my mind and my soul ...
That I might show sincere compassion,
And love to others before I go.
For if not a heart be touched by me,
And not a smile was left behind ...
Then the life that I am blessed with,
Will have been a waste of time.
With all my heart, I truly hope
To leave something here on earth ...
That touched another, made them smile
And gave to my life ... worth.
